I can't imagine a custom axle would cost less than or be lighter than a couple 8" wheels.

Here is a pic of the 165" 3.5P adjusted to 5/8" slack using the 10# weight.
I don't think 8" wheels will give enough adjustment to compensate for break in stretch.

I have 155 2.6" with belt drive.. if i did my math right i can install 156" 3p conquer with 3" center drive drivers without any problems. Just get little taller gearing. Is that right or did i miss something?
If you moved that locking nut to the other side of the mounting bracket, is there a bit more room in the axle window for it to move back more? In your picture it looks like the limitation is that the nut is touching the bolt head (or just about)

We just installed a 165 on a 163 and its not even close to that far back. You have 6 tooth 3.5" pitch drivers right?
I think 156" should be perfect lengthlooking to make the swap on my axys 155 2.6, what will be better?
154 vs 156? (154 will fit with the bigger driver?)
centre driver or "normal" driver with antistab?
I have the 3.5" pitch, 6 tooth Avid Extroverts. The pic I posted shows the track tensioned to specs. 5/8" slack measured 16" forward of the axle centerline with a 10# weight. We just installed a 165 on a 163 and its not even close to that far back. You have 6 tooth 3.5" pitch drivers right?
Yep, mine was chain case and factory 3".If Steve has a chaincase sled his rails are for a 162 track (3.0p). I think you guys have belt drive sleds meaning the track is a 163 actual length. Rails must be longer on the belt drive 163s.

I just looked at that too. Any chance you have a pic showing how much adjustment you have left?Parts fiche has two different PN's for the 2.6" and 3" lugged sleds.
Must be the 3" lugged rails are shorter!
