Connecticut School Shooting...What is wrong with people!

I won't pretend to know what goes on in anyone elses head, but
our society seems to thrive on attention as if it were kryptonite.

If you don't do something bigger & better than it has ever been done, nobody cares.
Had this been 3-4 kids dead, we would be on a different subject now.

That kind of scares me, that some mis-guided f_ck is in his room right now memorizing bluprints of a school, scheming about how he can take out more than 30 people.

"if everyone had a gun this would not have happened" For once can we please get past this rediculously weak argument. That would only hold true in a world where the killer wore a hat with a neon flashing target on it and i am sure at the end the hat would have more holes in it then the shooter. Not to mention everyone within an arm reach of the killer.
I truly hope something happens as a result of this latest tregady.

Presently, 17 states regulate private firearm sales at gun shows. Seven states require background checks on all gun sales at gun shows (California, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Oregon, New York, Illinois and Colorado). Four states (Hawaii, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania) require background checks on all handgun, but not long gun, purchasers at gun shows. Six states require individuals to obtain a permit to purchase handguns that involves a background check (Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Iowa, Nebraska). Certain counties in Florida require background checks on all private sales of handguns at gun shows. The remaining 33 states do not restrict private, intrastate sales of firearms at gun shows in any manner

and just because it involve my local area and it is a large gun show because of my states long history of hunting and ranching in the area

In 2003 and 2004, the San Francisco ATF Field Division conducted six general operations at Reno, Nevada, gun shows to investigate interstate firearms trafficking. During these operations, "agents purchased firearms and identified violations related to "off paper" sales, sales to out-of-state residents, and dealing in firearms without a license." The "ATF seized or purchased 400 firearms before making arrests and executing search warrants, which resulted in the seizure of an additional 600 firearms and the recovery of explosives."

As everyone has said before getting rid of all gun will not fix anything and really is out of the question considering this countries heritage. I have heard a lot of me me me concerning rights and not a lot of us us us concerning the sociaty that we are all apart of. I think somewhere in there lies the problem

yes we do need to tighten up our gun buying laws..but even if we made our laws so strict that everyone has to do a back ground check to buy any weapon, new or used from commercial or private source do you really think it will stop criminals from having weapons? sorry but I doubt it..a far better idea..lets institute firarms training in school..just like health, science, gym ..lets teach our young the proper handling of firearms, including the devastating effects of using them.. otherwise the only viable options are to continue down our current road or put an armed officer on every corner, in every room to deal with these threats.. we cant hide our kids from this nor can we keep sugarcoating it ..they need to see at a young age that they are responsible for their own actions...and we need to really teach them right from wrong.........

To further Mafesto point

Just now read this

Oklahoma police arrested a high school student on charges that he was plotting to carry out a shooting and bombing massacre at his school, the Tulsa World newspaper reported on Saturday.
Sammie Eaglebear Chavez, 18, was arrested at his home in Bartlesville, Okla., on Friday, the same day that a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.

Made the arrest on the same day. this is F'D up people

I agree mold

the quote "if everyone had a gun this wouldn't have happened" may not be true, but i personally believe that in most of these situations if there was a PROPERLY TRAINED individual carrying at the location there would be less innocents killed. they may not stop all the killings and may not even kill the bad guy but i think someone shooting at the gunman would cause him to focus on that person and make time for some to get out and give more time for the authoritys to get there.

i agree that it is not the guns that are killing and no amount of laws is going to stop this kinda stuff from happening without fixing and educating the people of this country. start making people be held accountable for there actions and go back to disciplining people for doing wrong, including children so that they learn every action has a consequence. im not very old myself but it makes me wanna start bustin heads just watching teenagers walk around with there untouchable disrespectful attitudes they've aquired from never getting an *** whooping or probably any punishment for that matter.

one more thing, an assault rifle is no more dangerous than any other gun except for the fact that its called an "assault rifle". they do not shoot faster than any other semi-auto hunting rifle nor do they have anymore "power", actually they are very small calibers compared to most hunting rifles and they do not have any magical abilities over any other hunting rifle. the reason they have become so popular with sportsmen is they are light weight, compact, and can be accessorized in many forms for different types of hunting or shooting events, not because they "kill" any better than any other rifle. i say this just because i don't understand how people can blame them for the actions of there handler just because what the rifle looks like. it just shows me that once again the people complaining and wanting regulations on them have no idea what they're talking about. any person with proper knowledge on how to use a gun could cause just as much destruction with almost any weapon even if assault rifles never were invented. once again it all comes back to the person pulling the trigger.

Two more separate shootings in AL today. One at a hospital, not sure about the other. Then the above mentioned school plot. The frequency of these random events are becoming closer every week. People are getting strung out, resorting to violence and we are all going to pay a heavy price for it. Not looking forward to to the future as things are going today. Sad to say, bad sh!ts a comin.

thing is, even if you could take fire arms away from everyone, even the criminals..they will just turn to something else..such as home made explosives(made from common houshold items) or a vehicle..what happens then? how many die when they take a car loaded with a homemade fertilizer and park it next to a building and detonate it? now instead of a couple dozen dead, we have a whole building flattened with hundreds of peeps in it...
now just for instance with this incident, what if every adult in school was packing, could the principle have used her weapon and taken this guy down? maybe saving 20 peeps life? no one knows..but no matter what happens..criminals will commit criminal acts..personally, I would rather face them with a way to protect myself and others then empty handed............
