Connecticut School Shooting...What is wrong with people!

Not trying to turn this in to what it's not but. I have a hard time when someone says prayers are needed to the families involed. Why would I be praying to someone that did nothing to stop this before it happened? If he is up there why doesn't he do something to stop these sick people?

I believe he is up there and what gives me comfort during things like this is the innocent victims are in heaven with God (picture all those little kids with wings and halos) and the rotten POS is in the other place that I believe in. He will be in pain now for eternity.

What I'm really praying for is to see not even one more family have to go through what the 26 fatalities, family members of this have to go through right now.

Having Faith means believing.
Believing in what you can't see, touch, smell, feel, hear.
Believing without proof.
That's why it's called Faith.

Don't for a second think that God and the force of good is the only thing looking after us.
The Darkness is also watching over us celebrating in every small (or in this case huge) falter.
Actually even celebrating people using a tragedy like this that causes people to doubt just as you do.

Perfect words couldn't have said it better!

Thoughts and prayers...

I definitely don't want to turn this into a theological discussion. Regardless of who or what you believe in, this is a terrible tragedy that I wish would have never happened. I suppose when I say "thoughts and prayers" for me it means that I hope that the people who were affected by this are able to find some sort of comfort, somehow, someway. It just tears me up thinking of those poor kids. My wife and I found out that we are going to be parents in June, and it absolutely scares the hell out of me to think that my kid is going to have to grow up in a world where this kind of thing happens. How do you explain something like this to your own child when there is no explanation? I can honestly say I haven't been as profoundly affected by something like this since 9/11. I actually have not even turned on the news yet because I don't think I am ready to see the grief and agony that some of these people are going through. So sad...

Absolutely terrible, made me want to go get my kids from school and make sure they were safe. Unfortunately the anti's will use it as their ammunition, and twist it to their benefit. If they outlaw guns, I guess I will be an outlaw. Maybe if everybody had a gun people would think twice before doing crap like this.

Elkwgn, unfortunately its not the sane rational thinkers that do this stuff.
They don't think twice before they act like this.

I am affraid that these tragedies are not going to stop any time soon.

Perhaps it's time to allow & even promote teachers to take gun safety/marksmanship courses & carry if they are comfortable doing so.

If I could carry at work, I would. Unfortunately, I have to park off property when my pistol is in my truck.

I know I am gonna get blasted for this, but it's true and undeniable......

There will always be people in any society and in any country with mental illnesses.

When guns (or any other weapon for that matter) become readily and easily available to them you are going to have problems.

I remember reading this article this past summer after the Colorado incident....

http://www.theatlantic.com/internat...-virtually-eliminated-shooting-deaths/260189/

I know the mere thought of anything of the like is gonna ruffle some feathers of a lot of people but it's kinda like einstein's definition of insanity.

Something needs to change.

Trash, I dont care what laws are put in place..criminals will always have guns..nothing in this world can stop a criminal if they want to carry a gun..but if most average adults are packing a gun(one they are trained on) you will see far less of these incidents....and when they do happen..it wont be a slaughter..some will still die, but before many do..and armed citizen will take out the threat..just as an example..have you ever..and I mean ever heard of a mentally deranged person or a criminal ever walk into a police station or a gun shop and open up? nope..why? because they know they would be lucky to get 1-2 rounds off before they were sent to meet their maker....gun control is not the answer, and will just lead to more of these happening..............It would be nice to live in a peacefull world..but it will only be peacefull if everyone can protect themselves............

I can understand the desire to protect yourself and your family. But it's tough to argue with the numbers. They are very real and getting worse.

America's gun control laws are the loosest in the developed world and its rate of gun-related homicide is the highest. Of the world's 23 "rich" countries, the U.S. gun-related murder rate is almost 20 times that of the other 22. With almost one privately owned firearm per person, America's ownership rate is the highest in the world.

I agree that gun control (by this point anyways) probably is not the answer. There are simply just too many guns already out in circulation to implement controls now.

FYI. It is already illegal for a person with a mental illness to purchase or own a gun.

Trash,
I also disagree with you.
However I am affraid this event is going to give the anti gun movement legs like it never had before.:face-icon-small-sad

The Dems never let a good tragedy go to waste.:face-icon-small-sad

Lets clear this up first.

I'm not anti-gun. I own a couple and enjoy hunting.

I can't understand how someone can justify making an assault rifle available to pretty much anyone off the street tho.

The US also has the poorest system for treating those with severe and persistent mental illness in the civilized world.

Trash, the difference between us and other countries..its our society..other countries still have these slaughters(school in germany comes to mind..teenager went crazy)..but overall our kids are far lower on the qualities that make for good adults..thats just a fact..our society needs fixed..not our gun laws...

Our system for dealing with the mentally ill fell by the wayside with the closure of state mental hospitals. The population they let back out into society now makes up the greatest percentage of homeless, drug users, and prison residents. Were the hospitals perfect? Absolutely not. But we are no longer allowed to force an individual to take drugs to help them maintain stability. They are only forced to when they have done something and been caught doing so. If they want to be crazy they are allowed to because that is their right. :face-icon-small-con
