Cloth Hood Material?

Camping stores usually have the mesh fabric in lots of colours. Non-mesh areas? I'm not following you. My mesh hood is all mesh. Just watch the areas where it gets close the exhaust, some fabrics will melt if they get too hot.

I think my hood will be mainly mesh and all mesh certainly is a possiblity. I have an experienced quilter sewing my hood and adding a bit of styling would be very easy for her. I was just wondering what people have experience with. I just wanted to ad a bit of styling near the windshield and a stipe here and there. I could use glass screen door mesh and I am not sure that melts....maybe

thanx!

This is what I used. Really tuff stuff. I recommend the higher percentage shade factor stuff. The 76% shade will make a fairly decent prefilter (not filter) for snow, all but super fine powder. Costs a little more, but the stuff is good.

Textilene

For the mesh part, I know of some guys that use the material that is used to make the covers for roll-off dumpsters. It is black and similar to the mesh in an R&M Lightening hood only a little tougher. They were getting it for real cheap from BFI in the Bozeman MT area.

As far as the non-mesh areas, what about stitching any fabric that you want directly onto the mesh with a layer of heat retardent material (like nomex) on the inside of the mesh in those areas

I stopped in Lowes/HomeDepot and looked at the dog proof mesh. The plastic covered mesh, is pretty close to the Texilene material. Not much color selection, or mesh size selection, but it looks like it would work, and it's cheap.

Find an old trampoline. Nate had his done with that and it turned out good. Have to like black though. :D

R@M mesh hoods have a non mesh material on the exhaust side of the hood.
