Chewing tobacco?

ive been working out and lifting hard, Had a date of april 26th to lose 45 pounds. 30 down 15 to go. When i reach my goal quiting chewing is my next improvement i will make to my life.
I know it will be hard, tried many times before. But gaining weight thing was always my biggest fear, excuse. Once ive got the workout, diet engraved into my brain i think it will help.

good luck everyone

is that the fake stuff that tastes like dirt? if it is i tried that stuff, i had a whole case but couldn't stand the dirt feeling.

That might be it. There is another brand that is more like dirt I think, but I forgot what it was called. This stuff is made from corn silk, red clover, molasses, and other spices and crap...there is a "Energy Boost" claim on the label...LOL! I actually like it which is unfortunate.

It is really terrible how these big tobacco companies can get people so addicted.

Being a youg farmer in highschool there was a lot of pressure for me to start chewing and i did try to many times but i really didn't like anything about it. i am just glad that it never caught hold.

I really wish all of you the best of luck in quitting, I have seen many people who have been terrribly addicted and quit, most of them not cold turkey but it took a lot of time and perserverence.

I wish all of you that are trying to break the addiction the best of luck! I know it is tough.

As soon as someone comes up with a good plan I would love to hear it. Been a Copenhagen guy for 21 years. Oh how I wish I could quit! The worst part is that I work in Medicine and know better and I just cannot stop. Have quit many times for a few months and the freakin smell and taste keep bringing me back. Like the post above me from the guy who is working out then planning on quiting.

There was a time in my life i went 8 years and 9 months with out chewing.... Then i turned 9

Here's my take on it...yes it's addictive and hard to get off of and a worse habit to break than black tar heroine blah blah blah. I've been chewing for damn near 10 years now and I have no intention to quit whatsoever. Many cancers are genetic, tobacco doesn't cause cancer it increases the risks of. If you've smoked/chewed for x amount of days then its not gonna matter if you quit or not...you're still gonna get cancer/heart disease/whatever else. You've already introduced the chemical into your body and instantaneously it already craves it....I'm not saying its fine in moderation but you're better off controlling an addiction than letting it control you. By controlling I mean limit it to say a dip in the morning, noon and night. you get the nic your body craves for without destroying your gums/teeth enamel much. I'll bet its a lot easier on your body to control the hunger than it is quitting and forcing other drugs through your vessels in place of it or going cold turkey and creating a complete system crash.....on that note....

Hi, my name is Brandon and I chew

I don't blame the tobacco companies at all. Nnnnnnobodys Fault but Mine...hey, someone should write a song with that title. Kind of catchy...:light:

I was diagnosed with melanoma 3 weeks ago. The doctors told me to stop
chewing NOW but I just can't stop. It'll be the death of me if I can't stop.
I am considering asking my doc for medicinal help.

Between 3 of us last year, this is what we racked up at college. And to think, that money could have easily went towards a new sled or parts or anything...

if im hungover and i try to put a chew in, everything is comin out of my guts... and i mean everything.

Well at least you chewed Copenhagen a couple times!
Been chewing since about 10, Ive thought about quitting but im literally in love with Copenhagen! Just wish i could get that first chew buzz again. Hey maybe thats a reason to quit for a while! Its not the tobacco companies fault that people are addicted to chewing, thats about like saying guns kill people. IMHO

The headaches and gut pains only last 3 days, but the mental attraction last at least a 118 . Thats when I went back . I'll get it tomorrow. Throwing my can away on my way home after 1 more chew .

My mom was a real heavy smoker and also wanted to quit. So I made a deal with her. If she quit smoking I would quit chewing. I chewed for 23 years. I thought ya, sure, like she would ever quit. She had some probs , went to the doc. He said quit or die real soon, so she quit. Well a promise is a promise so I quit cold turkey. Its been over 3 months and craving is gone. First two weeks are the hardest, after that there is hope. Darn hard but if ya put yer head down you can do it.

chewed since I was 14. Started out as a way to get a buzz on the weekends instead of drinking so I could drive my friends home. then I decided I could have a few during the week, all of the sudden, Im almost 22 and chewing a can of cope a day. I decided to give it up for lent, but with 2 roomates who also chew copenhagen long cut, i havent exactly made it one day without a dip, although i did go from a can a day to one dip a day, so its a start I guess. I know that cold turkey is the best way, but I cannot seem to go the whole day without just one dip. When tobacco tax went up a whole dollar a few years ago, I said I was gonna quit, now Im just paying $365 more a year to chew.

Well fella's, I took the plunge. I have been tobacco free for 30hrs (don't seem like much but thats huge in terms of tobacco!). I used the cold turkey(almost, I use sunny seeds) method. Although the first 10-15hrs
were tough, the seeds helped me through that. I still have the craving but nothing like the first 10-15. If this is as hard as it gets, I'm on the down hill slide! :) The nic fit isn't bad, it's more the reaching for a can that isn't there
and my lip feels like there is a dip in there, I try to push it around and there’s
nothing there!

I was able to avoid the wife and kids a first so no going postal. lol

... of course I have yet to sit down and have a :beer;. That may cause a problem!
