Chewing tobacco?

Anyone remember thier first chew? You put a pinch between the cheek and gum. A few minutes later you were turning 6 shades of green blowing chunks
all over the place.

Not so much pretty much just got one he!! of a buzz. Always had a strong stomach.

On the other hand I've quit 2 times for long periods. first time for about a year and a half, second for 3 years and change.

First started when i was 13 yrs old, (yeah i know backwoods hick kid) now @ 30 need to quit for good. Work and travel is my excuse, get pi$$ed off and it's the first thing I go for.

I've got the same story....work and travel are my triggers.

I am going on a month and a half of no chew. I quit the day after my Step-Dad found out he has canser.:face-icon-small-sad

It'll be two months this weekend for me. Not a day doesn't go by where I don't think about it. The nicotine gum seem to help, I gotta go get a piece right now.....

yup, same thing about the buzz, got a bit queezy the first time or two but never blew chunks. actually that dam buzz is what started it, start out doin it to get a quick buzz, then you do it more and more and eventually you got a chew in all the time but no more buzz. thats when smoking came in to the pic for me, start smokin and hey theres the buzz again then same story kept smokin and no more buzz. but i hated the way smokin made me feel so i started chewin pretty heavy last summer to kick smokin and that worked so i figured hell i ought to be able to quit chewin to so i started suckin down the Jim Beam barbeque flavered sunflower seeds(best kind ive ever tasted) by the pound and always had a pack of gum on me. this worked for while, maybe a few months then the other day i go into work and everybody there has chew. they've always smoked which i could resist cuz i didnt like it, but now all the sudden they all had chew and are all more than willing to share. needless to say i've chewed about 4 or 5 cans in the last 2 weeks. no good.

reason I never got too hooked, we saw a seminar on smoking and chewing, seen lots of pics of guys with their throats cut out, no voicebox's, lower jaws removed, no lips......pretty much did it for me. Still dip every now and then, but addiction will never be an issue.

Just be careful. I said the same thing once.

All this talk about tobacco gave me a big craving for a chew again. So not only did I buy a pack of smokes I got a tin of chew too, what the hell is my problem! Im enjoying the sweet tobacco as we speak.

All in all its all our own damn fault in the situation that were in. If I wouldnt of thought that smoking was "so cool" when I was fifteen I would not be in this predicament.

Well if you smoke and chew, wouldn't the 2 cancel eachother out....2 neg = a positive.

I will start smoking about everyother month in a effort to quit chewing. Never works, I hate smoking and wind up chewing again....but those pics are scary.........I think I will throw the Cope away and go get a pack of smokes..

I have stopped for 8 days cold turkey. Was having a beer and thought I dip sounds good, I can do it only have a dip every so often. That didn't work very well.

I've chewed off and on for 15 years, also smoked part of that time. Smoking is sooooo much easier to quit, only problem is I end up falling back into it when I try to quit chewing. Hated smoking because of how much it cut my wind, and makes you stink, etc. I'm well aware of the reasons to quit chewing but like it too much....

Holy chit, some chicken chit-bed wetter gave me some unsigned negitive rep
from this thread. The stupid tranny told me to lose my avatar and called me a Comi!

Quit hidding in a skirt and tell us all how you feel!

I was about to change to a new one but I think I'll keep it around a bit longer!

I went 25 years on the stuff until I quit Oct, 07. I had decided it was time to quit probably a year earlier but did not pick a date. I found out that my wife and son were leaving town for four days in early October, due to two teacher in-service days. I decided that I would take my last dip the day they left - Thursday. Turned out they didn't leave town but I had already made the commitment. I just avoided them a little and tried REALLY hard not to be an azz hat. So on about Sunday I simply walked into the living room and slammed down the can on the table and said "72 hours and counting". 16 months later I am still using the Smoky Mountain though so the habit is still not completely gone.

Good luck Yammer. It is the right thing to do if for no other reason then having to always make sure you have a can every where you go. That was a pain in the azz.

mmm mmm mmmm nothin better than a first dip in the morning..... or in the afternoon... or at night.....oh ****, it even gets better after you eat a meal... lol. Guess im lucky my wife dont mind I chew... I tell her its breath freshner in a can ( skoal wintergreen ).

I will smoke cigs when im out drinking with the buddys, but dont think I could ever get hooked on those smelly things.

I was thinking of the same type of pics.

Lets see, the doctor told me to take up smokin because the chicks dig it? Maybe in Montana or Wyoming. Relax, I know girls there that chew.

The doctor told me I'm not getting enough tar in my diet.

Get healthy, your life depends on it. On average a smoker or someone that uses tobacco products loses 10 years off of their life. About 50% more likely to die from a tobacco realated illness.

Thats 10 years of no more sledding and the sickness leading up to it. Hard for sure, but pull up your skirt. You are being controlled by drug. Same or maybe harder to give up as meth, crack or riding a Polaris.

missing chaw

Just quit the chaw 7 months ago...had skin peeling inside my gums and chit..kinda scares a guy.

I would say the biggest thing for me was to break the cycle of going to the gas station in the morning. And having gum or seeds with me for the first 2 weeks. Definately helps with the **** fixation. I would put the gum in the place where the chaw used to be..the sweet spot..haha.

Cant say I dont miss it myself....skoal mint was my flavor.

I had a girlfriend a while back that actually liked it when i chewed... she was a azz hat afterall

Wanted to quit smoking so I took up chewing, ya I think it's worse. Chewed for half a dozen years. This is what I did to quit and it worked for me. I bought a tin of the fake non tobacco chew and it didn't do anything for me until I mixed it with cyan pepper, the hot stuff. I never craved nothing when that crap was in my mouth. I did that for a couple months, then quit. Cloves works to but cyan pepper worked better. I haven't had any chew for 12 years. Now I'm just addicted to sledding!
