Chewing tobacco?

Yammer, I wish you the best of luck. My Dad went through the same thing 2 years ago with smoking. He had pneumonia and was knocking on death's door, the doc told him one more smoke and his lungs would fail and he would die. Pretty simple, he quit.

I know that it will be hard for you, but your wife and boys would rather deal with you being moody than dealing with life without a father or husband. You have a bunch of good friends and plenty of hobbies to keep you busy. So give it up, eat some seeds (the jalapeno salsa ones from David are the best) and give it your best. Good luck and support will be anywhere you turn.:D:D

Between 3 of us last year, this is what we racked up at college. And to think, that money could have easily went towards a new sled or parts or anything...

if im hungover and i try to put a chew in, everything is comin out of my guts... and i mean everything.

443 tins @ just over $10 canuck = $4500ish.

The hangover worked for the smoking.

tommorow will be week off for me. Hope everyone whos trying is making it

Chewed and swallowed Copenhagen for 20 years, quit just like you (4) years ago. Doc told me I probably wouldn't get mouth cancer but would get bladder cancer. Hard to ride with a Pi$$ bag stapped to your sled. First month was the worst, hang in there. I don't miss Cop any more but do enjoy a good cigar every once in a while.

Damn Im jonesing for a dip, Read this last thursday & said it was time to give it up, Friday night I cheated 3 times, 4 times on saturday & 3 times on sunday. Not bad for almost a tin a day!!!!!! But think I am ready to chew on my sock :face-icon-small-dis

I quit chewin cold turkey 8/19/08 (my birthday) after 10 years full time. So I am coming up on a year with no cheatin. I used to smoke cigarettes so I know where cheatin gets you. Anyway the first 3 months were hell, then it got easier. I did chew nicorette gum as a substitute and it helped a lot. I quit the nic gum after about 6 months. I actually have been craving a dip all day today after reading all these posts this morning. So I will leave my comment and try not to return so I dont have to think about it. Good Luck to all who try to quit.

Guy at work in his mid thirties with a wife and kid just had his stomach, 1/2 his asphagus, (sp) spleen and 1/2 his intestins removed.......they gave him 6 months......

Good luck quiting!!! Stay with it!:)

Wow neat thread. A can a day chewer. Chewing half my life....started like many of you, way back in Jr High. I have tried a couple of times. Man the mental and physical cravings are strong. Proud of all of you who have made it. My turn is coming. My son is 16 months old and replicates my spitting once in a while. I get the evil eye from the wife......the clock is ticking. Thanks for the link to Kill the Can.

If you quit you will be able to ride faster ,jump higher ,fook longer and have more money for sled parts and beers ! If that aint enough motivation what is ? maybe Kids ? the list goes ooooooon and ooooon! you can do it!

i"m chewing right now but to tell you the truth, I don't feel addicted, ive gone a few weeks without and never felt like I needed a dip. Sometimes I just do it. Like right now

Great incentive to quit ....find some pictures of people with half their face missing because they developed tounge, jaw and mouth cancer from chewing. My father in law chewed for 40 years. He started to get a tingle and Dr. told him it's only a matter of time. He quit cold turkey 5 years ago and hasn't chewed since. My 18 year old son is a baseball player and he recently played for a team of guys in their 20s. He said very single guy on that team chewed. He was tempted to try it but resisted. Good thing as he would have gotten sicker than a dog. Sounds really tough to quit, so why start? Good luck to all of you trying to kick it. :beer;

Thanks for the website info on kill the can. I will be checking it out and hopefully stopping copenhagen here really soon.

Spent some time on KILL THE CAN web site this A.M. I read the 100 day stories. I was actually crying. I can't explain it. Call me a puzzy. It just got to me. It feels like giving up a girl you can't take home to mom, you don't really like, but man to the sparks fly between the sheets.

I haven't had a chew since end of the March. So I substituted for an occasional cigar, now I'm going through Backwoods way too fast. They now cost $11 a pack here in MN. WTF! Thats maybe the only good thing with Obama, his taxing ****** will make me quit!

Joined kill the can and I am on day 7 free of Cope!! Great support network and tons of helpful information.

Good Luck to anyone that needs to quit. It's tough but worth the fight. You'll either quit chewin' by hard work and perseverance or you'll quit because you're dead. The choice is yours.

Thought I would kick this one back up top. 5 weeks today for me and no Cope. The Kill the can crowd is dead serious about support and has been a huge help for me. Thanks again Yammerhammer for the tip!!
