CE light with nitrous

I have a boss noss system and just used it the other day for the first time. Generally I loved it however on 1 pull that lasted longer than 2 seconds the check engine light came on and caused the motor to go into limp mode. After I turned it off and restarted it no problems. However, I didn't try any long pulls (longer than a quick press and release). I got an email from Kerry stating to put a rubber washer between the sensor and the head as the deto sensor is really sensitive after the first reflash. I am going to try that but thought I would throw it out there to see if anybody has had the same problem and what was their fix.

What kind of fuel are you running. You need high octane to run nitrous.

91 non ethanol in my tank and 110 octane race gas in the auxiliary bottle.

Just a thought but how old is the race fuel you are using? Was the drum/can opened very long ago? What Im asking here is, could the race fuel you are using have lost some of its octane level? Ive seen this happen.

I wasn't aware that there are different kinds of race gas. I purchased from a local company that sells race gas, av gas, bio diesel, etc. All I know is that it is 110 octane leaded gas that I premixed 20 to 1.

I'd be really suspicious of anyone telling my to jury rig my deto sensor to run nitrous, that sensor has the ability to save your engine. Try loosening the bolt and re-torquing with a good torque wrench. You are having severe deto if the sled runs well without nitrous, if you put a rubber washer to fool it you will blow your engine. I suspect there is something wrong with the setup. Alot of guys hit the button with the engine lugging under load and that can cause deto.

Det light sensitivity!!

I have a 2010 800 RMK that I put a turbo on. I had the sam,e problem with the factory flash. It kept flashing the check engine light rapidly and limit to 6000 rpm. I would have to restart it every time to get it to run again properly. The good news here is that the new 1-23-2010 polaris reflash update took it away completely!! It has only flickered the light once since and that was when I was running pump gas. And it didn't even put it in limp mode. I guess the anti-detonation was set way too sensative in the first flash. Take it to the dealer!!! You will be happy: ) Also, keep an eye on the spark plug tightness. If it is actually detonating, it will loosen the spark plug in the head. So, check for the tightness every so often when your spraying nitrous. Hope this helps alot of people because I was fighting that problem for 2 weeks.

Ok, so I am a little confused. I am running a pcIII with the latest slp maps in addition to the nitrous. I ran a little race gas in my tank and still having the problem with the check engine light and the limp mode. I have not had a chance to follow Boss Noss advice yet as I am trying to keep the stock set up with the sensor. I have not had the latest update (1.23.10), but am thinking about taking it in for that if it clears up my problem. However, my understanding is that the latest map is fuel mapping only. With the PCIII I don't need any updated fuel mapping. Can somebody help clear this up? I see no need in alerting my dealer of any modifications that I have done, regardless of my relationship with them (which is good). But if the new map will help then I will get it.

The january flash will change the sensitivity of your det sensor making it much less prone to detonation.
