just installed a hmr garet turbo on my 08 rmk shift 600 running 50/50 any tips on set up and power jet adjustments what shouldbe my max egt any imput wouldbe greatly appreciated:D

i got my sled running today and it starts and runs fine. im running 2psi of fuel pressure on a 1:1 regulator. The issue is that after i ran the sled on the stand i was able to build a couple psi of boost and so i know everything is working. a couple hours later i went to start the sled and there was fuel running out of the pipe. it happened once before and i think it was because i had the choke on to start the sled and the fuel pump on and it bypassed the jets and just filled up the case. but this time i had never used the choke. im thinking i have a needle thats not seating all the way and letting fuel bleed off when the motor is not on. any help on this would be great. or how to prevent this. i did notice once i got it started again it works best if dont have the fuel pump on for a while till its warm, and when i go to shut off the sled, let it run for a while with the fuel pump off to bleed off all the pressure.

Are you running a return style regulator? There should be 0 pressure after your pump is off if you are. What carbs do you have. Most carbs should be able to run 4-5psi base pressure without problems. Sounds like either a float issue or needle and seat issue.

Run your power jets out at least 3 or 4 turns to start. Some say full open. Either way if it blubbers and doesn't really produce boost then its rich, turn your power jets down a bit at a time just until it cleans up. Not sure about EGT's, I don't look at guages very often.

I am running a return style and thats why i thought it was odd that it would do that. im running mikuni carbs. and my buddie said when it was running on the stand he saw the pressure at about 7psi. not sure if the size of the carbs matters?

and if it helps i had my power jets turned out 4 clicks. i was loading up the motor pretty good using the brake and saw a max egt of 847. so a little rich, but i havent had it out to do any test runs

Check your float levels and if they are in check, you probably need new needle and seats. It should hold at least 4-5psi.

You don't have something you overlooked like a primer or something its getting past?

How are your power jets plumbed? Where is it pulling the fuel from.

the jets are comming out of the bottom of the float bowl. and i dont have any primers or anything just the needle and seat. and when the choke is closed there should be no fuel in there ill just have to tear them apartand see whats going on

i have a 08 rmk shift 600 i have just installed hmr turbo its carbed i was just wonderig about the power jets or dialajets whatever you want to call them. should i start tuning with them all the way out or in the middle i belive my main jets are 290 i run between 6-9 thousand feet any imput would be great this is an awsome thread i amrunning 50/50 vp111 and high grade pump gas will this be ok:D:D

I posted this when you asked the other day.

Your fuel sounds fine

thanks i will try it out and see what happens on wednesday when i go rippen:D

Make damn sure that waste gate is closed full shut too.....

I have it closed pretty tight. I wasn't sure how much preload it needed. I tested it with an aux signal and it started to open at about 6-8 psi. It never opened all the way up even with 15psi on it?????? It's supposed to be a 7psi actuator.

Also noticed fuel pressure came up a point right away with a little throttle, so I am building some pipe pressure. Would it build pressure with an open wastegate at 3000rpm??

Thanks

PS, I'll definitely call after I get it on the snow.

The pipe pressure will come up before boost. I get 2-3 psi rise before it boosts.

I had to put just over 1 full turn of pretension on my wastegate to keep it shut.

I don't use metal anymore man....

My fiber set ups are surviving at 25 + psi..I am no longer going in that direction..

They even live at 15-18 psi on the antilag button without issue..

I realize it can be a pain, but I will back my reeds with a full season warranty..

Simply put,, if its at ALL lean,, even just a little on the lowend, it will burn them up when it even slightly coughs or backfires or kicksback on start up..

My set up is a double up of sorts, it involves a damper reed not a tensioning reed to control tip occialtions..

Driveline has been test dummy number 2 for the last 2 years,, no reed failures in his either..

to each his own, the reed that Justin ( quadzilla ) is producing could be the ticket for your needs too..

I have seen the carnage of the stainless failures,, complete destruction..

can;t kill the turbo with fiber either..

its all up to the consumer..
