My wife and I have been looking for a vehicle all summer and attempted to buy a vehicle today, as it was advertised at a good price. The vehicle had the options we were looking for so we decided to buy it. I had my checkbook in hand and was ready to write out a check for the price that the dealer was advertising. The salesman was decent (though it was only his second day on the job), the sales manager was a royal a$$hole and refused to accept payment for the advertised price. We were told we could only buy the vehicle for that price if we financed through them, otherwise we would have to pay a lot more. I informed the man that there was no disclaimer or any information regarding that with the advertisement. The man still refused and I informed him that he was commiting fraud for false advertising. (I have since checked Colorado state statutes and what the dealership did was in fact illegal as it was advertisement fraud. It was also in violation of advertising rules through the CO Dept. of Revenue). It went downhill from there in a big hurry and I made a very big scene in the dealership by telling the greaseball what I thought of their poor business practices. My wife had to pretty much drag me out, I don't remember being that mad in a long time. I wish I could remember everything I said to him, but I was so ticked off I can't remember it all. I am now in the process of contacting the Colorado Dept. of Revenue, CO BBB, and Chrysler Corp. I am so upset with how my wife and I were treated, I plan to make their lives as miserable as I possibly can to try to get rid of the bad taste in my mouth.

So has anybody else had a bad experience when attempting to buy a vehicle or anything else?

It wasn't in Colorado Springs was it???

Anyway as soon as someone does something like that, just walk away fast. If somehow you prevailed and made a deal, you would then be dealing with that ahole for years.

Glad you got away.

They're (car dealers) aren't making a whole bunch on the front (sales) and are trying to make it up on the back (finance). Still a bad deal for them to do that.

Every in dealer finance I've done (four), the finance person has tried to sneak in ATLEAST 1% extra on the interest they originally quoted... Once they put an extra 3% on it.. I cancelled that transaction and walked out the door. Yes, they are crooks.. It's science. I read it. In a book. ;)

It was the Chrysler/Dodge dealer in Loveland, CO. I have had some experience w/ two dealers in the Denver area that wasn't so great as well, but this place takes the cake. I am starting to think that all dealerships (chrysler) anyway on the front range of CO are people you don't want to deal with, and I wont' ever again.

How sad is this world???? We are now being CHARGED MORE FOR PAYING CASH!!!!!!! WOW!

After we left that crooked place, that is exactly what my wife and I talked about. They didn't honor there advertised price and would not take a check from us. I have went through so many emotions it's unbelievable. I am still livid and disgusted about it this morning.

How's about going back down there, giving them one chance to make it right. Tell them if you don't honor your original advertised price(no doubt they changed it already), I am writing a letter to the editor of the local paper so more people will know about the way you choose to run your crooked business??

That is exactly what they are doing. To make money they wanted us to finance through them. Since we wouldn't they would not honor their advertised price. They said we had to pay two thousand more. I am still so floored that my money wasn't good enough for them. Even though we didn't need financing, we still had to fill out a credit application. My wife and I questioned it and they said that was part of the process. So the red flags went up, and I was really on edge then.....which stands for reason the way it went downhill. Right now I am wishing ill will on these dealers, and it is no wonder why the (used to be) big three are in such a world of hurt now.

I really don't think they will make it right. I am pursuing other actions in an attempt to prevent this from happening to other people.

I have always been very brand loyal to Dodge, after this experience if Chyrsler Corp will not take any action against this dealer I will never own another Dodge vehicle made after 2007 when daimler benz dumped them.

I am seriously considering Toyota now........I never thought those words would come out of my mouth.

hehe, yeap.... they'll try and screw you every which way. When I bought my truck the salesman kept pushing me for this $600 security system.... I kept refusing. Ended up screwing me a bit on the tradein but I still got the truck.... handed me the keys and the truck CAME WITH a security system already.

I let him know how pissed I was about that.

Don't bother going to Boadway Dodge in Littleton either!
Made a deal with them on a specific truck that they had in their "storage yard", wasn't out on the lot yet. Gave them $1k down to go get the truck, signed some sort of agreement too, while I went to get the check for the balance (paying cash for the truck, no financing). After waiting a few hrs they owned up that they didn't have the truck they had showed me the paperwork on and tried to sell me another one.
I took my $1k back and told them to pound sand. Then they offered to sell me another truck, dealer trade, which had $2k more options than the one I had "bought". I agreed. Couple hrs goes by and they bring over the new truck. I go to pay for it, check in hand, and they want $2500 more for it. Told them they could take out the bedliner, running boards and whatever other cr@p bumped up the price.
Bottom line they said no deal and I wasted a day.

On a good note, I just bought the same truck I wanted 2-1/2 years ago, but 07 model, 10k miles for $15k less than the first one.:D

I don't have a very high opinion of auto dealers either.

I have yet to be in an auto dealership for more then 15 minutes and not been lied too within that time frame. Usually within 30 minutes they'll admit they've lied to me, albiet in a round about way.

I hate them all, scourge of the earth I say....move em to Iran and bomb them.
