cans for 800 R motor

I have a xp 800 with HPS can and it dosn't make the sound that I expected. I was expecting the sound that the older summits make which is a raspy and fairly loud. The hps makes a sound that is more similar to the stock muffler but louder. honestly I was wanting a can that sounded more like the old raspy sound. If you want a slightly louder than stock, but stock sounding can HPS is really good.

I just heard the 08 XP has baffles in the pipe itself, is this true?? If so that's the resoning for the different sound out of the cans.

Cans?

I spoke with a Ski-Doo rep when I was at the JH Hillclimb, he was saying the only cans that didn't lose power was the MBRP & Jaws, otherwise it's all about weight loss.
Also these cans move the power around where you might have to play with the clutching to get full advantage.

Just what I was told.

I talked to the local dealer and the mechanic told me that there is a tube that goes into the expansion chamber of the pipe from the outlet and they cut it out and dynoed it and it made less hp but sounded like the old raspy sound. I would like it to sound louder but not if it costs hp. Might look into a new cpi pipe and team secondary for next year.

i got a buddy who has an HPS on his 07 800R.

He rode with the stock can for a couple rides, then switched to the HPS can he did notice a couple added HP at top end. I think it sounds like a vacuum cleaner on drugs. i dont care for the way it sounds.

This is a well known sled tuner i Sweden who has put in a lot of dyno hours to
develop his new line of cans.
For the 800 XP he found an ICREASE of 9hp!

The page is in Swedish, but he says that the cans are now avalible in US/CA as well. Drop him a mail and find out the facts.

I have ran the HPS since the first ride and i have not had any problems what so ever. I ride mainly from about 7500-9000 ft. They do not have the loudest sound but it is better to be on a hopped up vacuum cleaner vs a stock vacuum:D

I have a J&T ceramic can on my 08 gadeX 800r, but don't forget guys no matter what can you are using It won't be real loud do to the Internal stinger our stock pipes have, BRP added these to the 800r XP's, my 05 800X powertech had a dynoport ceramic can and It was a lot LOUDER!!
