is it possiable? i thought i would make a thing-a-majiger to come out of the reciever hitch to hold the backend of this thing up. i wanted to keep the cost down and was thinking of building it out of wood. would i need air bags. also the vehicle does have a 8" lift on 37" tires. also the two sleds i would carry are a nitro and a rx1. any suggestions on how you would do it?

Check 'yer owners manual to verify the heft you are going to put on the old girl!!! I personally am not one to care what brand you like, it's all about having fun when you get there. But be safe on the way there!! Seen a few Avy's with 4 place enclosed out west from the midwest region (usually 6.0L 3/4 ton), but there's quite a difference between pulling a 24'er amongst 4 guys at 65mph and overloading a 1/2 ton with 2 Yammi's and your gear. Don't the Avy's have a really short bed length to start with??? Give up a little and load up right. You ain't riding if you don't get there!!!!!

yes they do have a short box, thats why i was going to rig up that
thing-a-mijiger to come out of the receiver to hold up the back end. i have dual exhaust and a chip so power should not be a prob.

Sure ya can!

I think ya can do it, but make sure you show off your work, I'd love to see it! Or even take pictures along the way a step by step thing, for others to follow b/c you might be the first.

Some of us believe in ya!

S*** man I'm just kiddin ya! I don't think its a question of enough power, I think its overly complicated and if a manufacturer hasn't produced one for retail there's probably a reason why...Ya can drive a car with your FEET, that don't mean that its a good idea!

Buy yourself a beater sled truck and use that or a trailer.

Take it easy

Won't you need a 3 ton to haul 2 yammys ??? LOL Seriously--- You may have a problem steering with any 2 sleds hanging so far off the back . I don't think it will work .

Nitro and an Rx1 yes you will need air bags and mybe some heavier springs, LOL just kiding. Like the sled decks alot, looking at some diffrent ideas myself. I would go with the Air Bags for sure when you are loaded it will ride so much nicer. The side to side swaying motion without the air bags is bad, 35 lbs. in them and it firms right up. IMO with that tall of pick-up it would magnafiy with out them.

Just my two penny's

Let me clarify what you are doing here. You have two yamaha which way 1200lbs combined with no snow build up. A 8" lift, 37" mudders, dual exhaust, and a chip... and you think you can have a sled deck built out of wood with a widget to hold the back up.

Lets be serious here, this is NOT going to work. But i think if you add the banks stickers and monster decals you might make it, just rember to take the muffler off so its clearly a rig rocket at this point.

this whole project began to evolve at the bar last night. we sketched it out on bar nampkin. i have since transferred the drawings on to a sheet of paper and will take to menards tomarrow for a materials list. tomarrow night when i meet the boys down at the pub we are going figure something out for a ramp.
i think it will be slick little unit

Please please please

Please will you post pictures, or even better short vid clips! Doesn't that sound awesome, wait you did say you were gonna use WOOD right? In that case I'm going to insist that you post pictures to prove us ALL wrong there Blu Du!

Carpe Diem!

folcrum

i dont beleive it will work safly either but if you do go through with it, since it will be hanging 2/3 off of the back already you could make it tilt down to the ground with a much shorter ramp. the belly pans will hit that plastic behind the cab thingys wont they?
sound like a bad idea all aroud, but a bad idea is better than no idea right?

Maybe you are still drunk??

:):beer;

J.K. I have two xp's on my 1500 Ram and it's over loaded big time..... I couldn't imagine two yamaha's on an avalanche..... Maybe if you were going across the road.....

I'm with the rest.... Post pictures and video of the event

ok just got back from getting lumber. the kid at the lumber counter was great, he took one look at my sketch and he knew what i was doing and what i needed to change to get this thing to work. he come up with the great idea to use a tag axial type of setup.at the back of me deck i will have a 4x4 post come straight down to the road to hold the back of the deck up. i stopped at harbor freight and picked up a HEAVY DUTY caster wheel to put on the bottom of my post. i will talk to my buddies tonight about maybe patenting and marketing this deck to the public. pics to come later boys

Sounds like a great idea. If it was me though I would swap in a duramax/allison combo. They come cheap and shouldn't take more than a couple of hours to swap. With the diesel/allison engine/transmission you wouldn't need the caster in the back because the engine/trans is heavy enough to counteract the weight of the sleds.
Just my .02
Go for it:rolleyes:
