Wyoming T/A,
You have a right to be upset, no doubt! However, there are more than a few riders that can shred a new belt before leaving the parking lot. "I don't need to break no damn belt in!" You know the type, should the manufacturers be liable??? That being said, YOUR dealer should know YOU better and replace the belt and gear, no charge JMO

same old crap they all pull.nothin is wrong untill enough people b!tch and then they will look into it.

this is the first year that we didnt get 15 miles or so on the sleds before we lined them up and raced them a 1/2 a dozen times,,this year we rode 2 weekends in cooke and didnt do any climbing or hard pulls .last weekend we were still taking it easy on them when i noticed the thread coming out of the belt.this is by far the easiest i have ever been on a new sled just trying to get the clutches and belt broke in a little..

Whiners--STOP

When is the last time that a manufacturer got it right 100%. I have had to re-clutch and or re-gear every sled I have ever owned--They have never got it right out of the box.

If all it cost is 1 belt and a 19 tooth gear--I think you got off easy from my experiance. Looks like the price of fix's have gotten cheaper over the years.

At first the sled could do no wrong with you ---Now it is BRP is a bunch of yahoo's that will not cover your $170 to make your sled right---

I spent more than that getting my last 2 sleds to run right--or to potential.

It is part of sledding--get use to it and quit whining:face-icon-small-win Get it right then pass it on to the others so they can set theirs up without having to experiment.

H20SKE...

Anyone who has not had a problem just wait your time is coming.

If it was one guy, talking about one belt then I could see people defending BRP. However there have been very many people complaining about this problem, so many in fact that they no longer even post the problems on Doo talk because to many people were sick and tired of hearing about it. I would be pi$$ed to if I spent all that money only to have a lemon in the garage.

However this may be what works, so maybe you will get refunded, who knows. One thing I do know is that they can't pay for everyones ideas, so for now you are out of luck.

Reclutching to get things to potential and having clutching so far off that you are burning belts up in 30 miles are two different things..

I would be pissed if I spent that much on a new sled and that's all the life I could expect out of a belt on it.

T/A changing the Top Gear and TRA Clutch Heat are old issue that are historical

Anyway most of my primary and secondary parts have arrived im just waiting for Goodwin to send me a new shaft. And Skidoo same old same old issues will be fixed....There a reason skidoo's own racers prefer running a TEAM.

Just the way it is with Skidoo

M-cats have been eating belts for years but I never seem to hear much about it. Guess the cat owners have come to accept it.

I have some ideas about the problem but need to get some seat time to figure it out.

U s Cat Owners!!!
Not here- 1500 miles on the same two belts on 2 different-M1000's
Just have to know clutching.... and not accept factory limitations

I agree with T/A but with the old 670x summits- doo didn't doo squat about that huge belt issue either....
So much for a indepth R&D

I have to laugh everytime I hear about breaking in a belt. I rode Polaris sleds for 15 years and never broke in or cleaned a belt once. I changed the belts once a year just because I thought I should, not because I ever had a belt problem.
Now I am on my 3rd belt with my '07 Summit X (approx. 600 miles). BRP does have clutching issues with the mountan sleds and it is unfortunate because, otherwise they have a great sled.
Hopefully my '07 will be better after the updates.

Love that 'Cat comment, mine didn't eat a single belt in 1500km.
Didn't really break my belt in on my Dragon as nice as I did with 'Cat and it's not showing a single cord.

The thing that I don't really get about this whole XP deal is how it "seems" as if no one rode the sled before they put it on the showroom floor if you get what I'm saying. Obviously this isn't the case because we all know countless magazine riders rode the prototypes and from what I seen there was absolutely not a thing mentioned about smoking hot clutches or belts being destroyed in such a short time then. Hopefully everything or something gets figured out soon because these are pretty sick sleds and if they ran flawlessly or longer than 100miles without blowing a belt they would be worth the buy. Now I know some of you have just accepted the fact that after you buy the sled you have to start messin around and dropping the greenbacks on parts to get them to run like they should from the factory but this shouldn't be the norm. When was the last time anyone brought home a new dirtbike and had to do clutch work, gears, new chain, etc on it before you enjoyed riding it? Seems kinda retarded....

These issues suck for sure, the 07 clutch problems are what kept me on a Polaris for 08. I'm sure that you will get it figured out just like the 05, 06 Poo guys did. What pisses me off is the season is too short and sleds are too expensive to have to screw with this crap in the first place. I don't buy a sled to have to clutch it myself, I buy it to ride it. Good luck boys.

Every MX bike we own weather KTM, Yamaha or Susucki has had it's sprocket's changed (gearing), has a had Renthal chains installed and an FMF pipe installed.....

Stock tires on a MX bike arent that great either.

I agree. How crappy are these companies' engineers that they can't get the clutching better than a backyard mechanic in a couple hours?... Or are we a bit too critical in claiming the factories can't clutch correctly because they aren't setup for our particular tastes? Not that this issue has anything to do with post-factory clutch fine-tuning...this sounds like it's just way off the mark... How could something this simple and obvious happen so blatantly with all the experience these engineers have with sleds?

I don't think it's that big of deal,we throw a gear on and go.We bought weights springs and helix's every year we rode Polaris and never made it over 800 miles on a belt.My 04 Edge was a belt eater for the first 600 miles. This Sled is so far above the rest for fun factor I'm amazed.Dad get's fired up sometimes, especially about his wallet. He wouldn't give up the XP is you gave him a 800 Dragon.............

Factory Arctic Cat paid extra to have my 800 dragon snowcheck yesterday. Framed the check and the invoice just for laughs.
