Bragging about an avy??

I have set off avys in the 10 years that I have been riding, but I now have alot more respect for the power of some of these slides. After the first slide, you guys should have altered your riding for the day. After the second slide, you should have realized the avy danger was very high and altered your riding for the day. After the third, well you guys are just being stupid. As for the fourth slide????? Your total disregard for the conditions shows arrogance and stupidity. Sooner or later that attitude will get somebody hurt or killed.

Boom skibreeze...exactly my thoughts and you beat me to it. True sledheads? hahahahaha

So you "guarantee" we haven't seen the last of this video and its "going to be used against us for sure". That's a bold statement. Why don't you go retype your post in one of the AVY death threads? Hate to break it to ya pal but in the big picture of all the unfortunate incidents this year this video has little to no significance. I also hope that your a member of more than one club and attend committee meeting to stick up for sledders rights as we do. Since you claim to be such a saint in the sledding community. Come off your ****en high horse:rolleyes: Feel free to pm me if you want, I would rather see this thread die.

No this thread won't die....I will personally make it my mission through the summer to keep it at the top! I still can't believe you guys set off 4 avies that day....UNBELIEVABLE! It only takes one for me! I'm not a slow learner. Any of you "true sledheads" riding that day have wives and kids at home?

akstormin,

I am BCAlpinejunkie, the rider that survived that was caught on video in that slide. There was no bragging going on, that is how us true Sledheads talk....
That day wewere a group of 6,we triggered a total of 4 small avalanches that day. Each of us has a minimum of 10 years riding experience. No trails where we ride, just steep and deep:).
Thats how we roll.
I personally have 12 years of West coast mountain riding experience.
The video clip you reference captured the largest slide i have triggered or encountered.
For obvious reasons, I was elated that my skills had me stay calm, not panic, and get to the side of the slide, which is what we are trained to do.
This year has taken 19 lives locally, Climate change is creating crazy snow conditions.
ALWAYS Be aware of the riding enviroment and snow conditions you are riding in, review all aspects of the enviroment you are in , discuss safety concerns and strategies with the group continuously throughout the day.
Take note that my entire group was fully aware and on top of my situation, ready to respond...
I didnt even have to pull the ABS bag.
Choose your riding partners carefully, You need to trust you riding partners with your life.

"That was good, pretty exhilarating." Are those not your words? AMAZING!

Typical Pig, has to go out of his way to purposely try and aggravate someone:rolleyes: I can understand being a cop and getting made fun of daily would wear on you after awhile, but honestly go vent somewhere else. This is a snowmobile forum not a place for frustrated cops to release their anger from having an underpaid crappy job;) And yes I have seen your be-littling posts in the past. PS the picture of you with your gun and badge makes me LMFAO

Im not venting...I'm gonna keep this thread up all summer to educate others....if it aggravates you in the process, I could give a f*ck. Cheers...:beer;:beer;

....one more thing....you guys admitted there were 19 deaths up there due to avies...your attitude towards avies disrespects all of those fallen riders. By the way, I love my job....I would go the same route if I had to do it all over again. ;) Go off on me again...don't care. I really do hope you guys don't get buried.....but do me a favor don't post that stuff on youtube anymore so that young inexperienced riders will see it and think lightly(or look for them to be exhilarated) of avies when they ride.

i think there is a possibility of educating others for certain...but only to educate them of your unrelenting malice and baseless assumptions...i reel at the thought of someone with your personality being involve in cilvilized society where there is trust required that you may not have the balance to supply.....who would i trust in the backcountry...well sorrry..not you...bc alpine...yep..and i am entitled to chose am i not...or do you want to take that freedom away..

Yup young punk here, I have no idea how the world works:rolleyes: Review all of my 1400 posts, the only time I have ever disrespected someone was David R. IMO their is Police which I respect and their is Pigs which I don't. BIG difference between the two.

Soooooo you’re making an assumption about someone with 6000 plus post. I guess if you post more then say 1399 post you’re an expert.

No I would have to say that is your assumption. Do I really care who has more posts....not at all:rolleyes: It doesn't surprise me that he has 6000+ posts. All I was implying is that I don't come on here to argue or bash people. I come on here to read about sleds and sledding experiences and help with what I can.

Do you want to educate me on my malice in this thread? You wouldn't trust me in the backcountry....ok, so sad. Yes you are definitely entitled to choose. I am all about freedom (all about it!)....just like it is my right to express my opinion....call it malice...call me a pig....I don't care. I have thicker skin than your friend sled-fiend here. If you choose to exercise your freedom and ride with bc alpine....I just hope you choose to ride with caution and not carelessly set off 4 avies in a day. I dont doubt bc alpine is skilled in rescuing people caught in an avy....but he isn't God and can't stop the trauma cause by an avy....and his "skill" isn't always gonna allow him to escape!

You got me all figured out.

You don’t think its a little crazy not getting out of there after the first Avy? Why take chances like that? I love to hit the step hills with fresh powder but I love to come home even more.

indicating that 4 avalanches were triggered..regardless of the experience...the conditions were not good...they were in an area with lots of snow and mountainous with little or no trails..whats wrong with this statement...why are people taking offense.??...^^^^

indicating that he was not comfortable with what happened, probably the biggest ordeal in all his mountain riding..glad he did not turn up or down or slow because of panicing..
glad he was able to somehow keep calm...i still see nothing yet to warrent all this internet attacks..^^^^

so why the bs...why the creation of an illusion of what was said or the intent etc..it all starts with the person who starts the thread...is like he stood in front of a door and everyone assumed the door was locked and stood behind him...sometimes folks you just got to try the door yourself...it may be open...!!!!!

Tellin me to get off my fricken high horse is a pretty bold statement! Think about the negative impact your little video could have on ALL of us as a group! This is exactly the kind of sh*t they want us to do. Go ahead and tighten the noose a bit more...
This video getting released in the public eye like it was definately didn't hurt to solidify the negative image which the avys have put on our sport. To you it may be a cool vid, to a liberal freak its exactly why we shouldn't have the right to ride. All I am saying is that if you have any more of these keep it to yourselves please. You aren't helping the rest of us out at all. You showed the public that you know exactly what not to do by putting it out there, if you had sent it with all the sound edidted out it may have been another story, but they got it with audio. Yes maybe it was in the heat of the moment but it makes no difference taken out of context. You guys made us all look like we have a death wish by doing this. Sometimes no publicity is way better than negative, I surely think this was the case here. I ain't claiming to be sh*t in the sledding community, I'm just some nobody who thinks that we all coulda done without this getting on the news. There's a big difference between saying that a person who was killed in an avy was in the wrong place at teh wrong time, had all the right training and gear, applied their knowledge, and was still killed; and saying that you guys set off four avys that day and here world look this was the biggest we set off that day, look how cool we are!
Anyone who had respect for avys, the families of those killed, or for their fellow sledders would not have let the media get their hands on it. I kinda feel like its a ***** slap in the face of everything we have learned (or obviously haven't) this year. Maybe I don't have the right to say this though, I haven't EVER set one off, let alone four in one day, so maybe I just don't know how in control you guys were over the situation.

Okay, now everyone watch the training video one more time then read the advice offered by this sponshured professional. Perhaps we can all learn something from him and how his "True Sledhead" buddies "roll". :face-icon-small-ton
By the way, it's not the words on the news that make you guys look like Fools.

It's his profile pic?

Some of the right things were said, but if the conditions were bad and they new it, they still played with fire. No-one was hurt or killed this time, but far too many have been. Four was three too many. I too am a true sled head, nothing more, but I've never heard any of my friends who have been inviolved in an avy talk about it in such a light manner. I'm not flaming these guys, I just want to know why the ****in news got involved! Thats where this went over the line for me...
