Blue Mountains 2011/2012

Heading up to Cloverland tomorrow. Looks like it will be just us cats. The skidoos have alot of excuses coming from their camp. I think the real truth is Mrs. Plum"nuts" wouldn't give "them" back to Mr. Plum"No"nuts.

Report back tomorrow night. Maybe the doo will make it after all.

Rob

The snow was really good for the day after Tday. Actually played in the meadows and didn't hit something. There was a stuck cat w a 162 that got stuck and there was a cat brought in on a rope. Looks like the stator crapped itself. AS bad of day as it was for the cats the doos never even showed up.

The marker had the 2 foot completely covered with the 3 staring to be covered

Rode out of Cloverland... there was the usual smash and crashes at the bottom of the hill (just before the parking lot)..:face-icon-small-sho. the hill is ice... looked like not so experienced sledders and a lot of tree hunters. A few trucks got to the parking lot... we turned around and parked on the lower road just before the hill.

Cold as hell! Rode to the cabin and beyond... marker showed 2 feet but there is more snow than that. Rode a lot of the fields, did some serious hill climbing... and got detained maybe three times:smow:. What is amazing with Ski-Doos they start, ran all over the mountain and nothing broke. I know Cat riders find that unusual as they ALWAYS have their hoods up... and carry a rope because "there was a cat brought in on a rope"

To cover down trees and to be able to ride the drainages need more snow... but hey for November not bad. FYI no trails are groomed at this time and tracked vehicles down low tore up some of the roads... nothing that another foot of snow won't fix. :bounce:

Any idea when they are supposed to groom and plow the road ? it was pretty windy up there today, drifting pretty good up by the guard station. But for nov 27 I cant complain, I got out of raking leafs:face-icon-small-hap

If I get my stator back Janet, can Mikey some play on Saturday?

Rob, are you coming down to ride from Bluewood to Tollgate and back on Saturday? We leave at 9 am. I plan on riding to Tollgate anyway and staying there is my plan as the TTF club has a meeting there that evening.

Yes that is correct Dec. 3 for the Bluewood to Tollgate and on Dec. 10 it is the Tollgate to Bluewood ride that the TTF club does.

First I have to give a big thanks to Matt Potratz for diagnosing my stator problem.:yo:

With any luck we will be there.

Are you looking for the proverbial cat on the mountain?

Pretty sure that Jeff does NOT plan to have any gas at the store this year, he may have some food.

Is there enough snow for the ride?
At this time there is. Probably at least 18 inches at each end with more in the middle. The problem is the big drifts that form on top makes it nearly impassable during the middle of the winter so we do the ride early. We see it as a break in ride and a chance to see a lot of country. Its usually not enough to enjoy much off trail anyway so any off trail riding is always a plus. We also take a chainsaw to cut downfall out of the way for the winter where needed.

There is food at Tollgate and should be gas at the store. He said he would have gas for those riding across and he was pumping gas last weekend so at this point in time he has gas. If the snow isn't too deep the ride can be made on a tank of gas so if you have some spare gas you should be good also.

If you're being towed then obvioiusly not much gas is needed for the towee but the tower may need extra.:face-icon-small-win You never know Rob but there may be other Cats along on the ride.

Yes, there is food and gas at Tollgate. Jeff had 500 gallons delivered the Friday before Thanksgiving. $5 gal, non ethanol of course. He might not be open some days of the week bit is open for sure on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

FlyingW--Good to know about the snow. I was up there the weekend before Thanksgiving and rode a couple of days. It was nice but I was not sure about a trip between Bluewood and Tollgate. Up at Bone Springs there was around 4 feet. It has settled a little now and is about 3 ft.

Hey Glenn, I am thinking about going. If so I will see you Saturday. It looks like you are leaving the parking lot at 9am.

Yeah, I am bringing Evan I think. Have you saw how wimpy those Skidoo bumpers are?? A tow would cost me $500 in bumpers.:faint:

That is a relief. Doo snow. Would want to have to turn around because they (The Doos) couldn't make it.:behindsofa:

She is ready for a big day at dayton tomorrow. Can't wait to see the Warren brothers.

Should be a good time. It should have something for everyone. Everything is groomed except about 5 miles so it should be a good base to keep the doos from getting stuck and provide good traction to tow the cats.:face-icon-small-ton

I think you are only going to see one of us Rob as we went rding last Saturday and rode to the top of the grade and I think Bill is still resting up from that trip.

I'm heading out and will be along the highway with my sled hitching a ride to the hills since I am only riding one way across the mountain. Hopefully I find a buddy with some room on a trailer.:face-icon-small-coo

Well a good time was had by all. Great to meet everyone.

There was rumor but no photo evidence that plumnuts went over the handle bars. :flame:

Flying W smoked a belt. (Classic Skidoo trait) :lalala:

Plumnuts had to take a peak under the hood of the cat to marvel at all the bling under there. (Documented)
