Black smoke.........

Been looking at new 09 dodges and found out they changed the computers so they are "locked out" so you cannot use a programmer on them.....

This is a direct result of people tuning their trucks to blow smoke...........

I know the programmers will find a way around this but we need to get smart and quit giving the greenies ammo.

Went on the cummins diesel website and saw threads showing how to rig your truck to smoke at the flip of a switch, just sitting still with no load...Retards!!!

I just don't get why making your truck look like it runs like sh!t is cool??

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm quite sure you can still use a post ECM plug in box, like an Edge Juice. That way it doesn't leave tracks in the ECM like a programmer will. Just pull it out before you need to take it to the dealer.

i have had people pull up beside me and tell me my cummins is to loud and it smells. and i haven't even smoked them out i.e lugging it will cause tons of smoke. and a even a truck thats modded right i.e no smoke like mine when it driven correctly foot to the floor and turbo spooled to 90 psi will smoke a tiny bit between shifts like a semi. and as for the new clean fords i laugh one off those off-road in fire season could start a fire and they have the worst fuel consumption them my old 12 valve

that's right. as of now the programmer companies are in the process of making them work but nothing so far..

90psi? You said turbo. Did you mean turbos as in more than one turbo? What are you running for head seal?

Billies! Your days of smoke blowing are quickly coming to an end. If you feel something up your a$$ you might look down to see where your own dik went.

I will chime in here. Being a Cummins fanatic, and also a cop, I have to see both sides. I understand that diesels smoke. Hell, mine smokes when i get on it and it's bone stock other than 5'' turbo back exhaust with a muffler. In my opinion, get your crazy larry or hot unlocked edge, or whatever you want and hammer down....... out of everyone elses way. I have kids in town black out an entire intersection, and granny jamming on the brakes because she can't see. Then someone azz packs granny. Make your power, make your black smoke, but don't be obnoxious about it. I love to hear my turbo whistle, and to hear that six in a row beller, but have some common sense, just like everything else.

I would venture to guess Dodge could care less about people blowing black smoke as long as they are buying their trucks. Dodge is attempting to lock out programmers so they don't have to pay for problems under warranty caused by someone plugging in 185 extra horse power to their stock trans, rear end, etc...

Between controlling warranty claims and emissions, that is why they are locked out.

There lies the problem. It seems common sense is very hard to find these anywhere! There is no gray any more. Just black and white. So sad when just a little common sense will go so far.

Which college are you planning on attending? I would for sure put that tag line right at the top of your entrance essay. Let them know where you stand!

I find it interesting that you only latch onto the guys who are making stupid comments, instead of us who can hold an intelligent conversation.

As far as the locked out tuners go, it has nothing to do with black smoke. It has all to do with the power levels some idiots run on stock components and then expecting warranty to fix it.

I agree with that but is also about emissions.(black smoke) The feds want all cars and trucks to be "tamper proof"...

If you're not part of the emerging fast & furious diesel doof crowd that has ruined this hobby, congratulations. What do you want to talk about?

Trust me, duke could hold a conversation on diesels way above most peeps heads. But I do agree with you on the retards out racing, towing on the highest levels...thats whats costing the oems engines, trannys etc.

Not saying he couldn't. I find it funny he engages the "doofs" on here instead of those of us who are of the thinking crowd.

If I could run a diesel that doesn't blow smoke and still make the same/better power for what mine cost, then I would. If not, I'll blow my puff of black every once in awhile....and usually with a small amount of enjoyment.

You're half right. They don't want to warranty cooked trannies yes. But they also don't want the bad PR of having every hillbilly out there buying a "tune" and blowing gobs of soot all over granny. It's just as much about black smoke as it is fried trannies.
