You ever wonder why BIG Pharma spends Millions of dollars trying to keep marijuana illegal? After watching a friend of mine's Dad & Mom waste away from cancer I thought there got to be something better than what we have. Big Pharma hasn't come up with any new treatments in decades. Well there is... the problem is that it's from a plant and being you can't patent it you can't make HUGE money on it. There is NO money in curing cancer only in the treatment of it.

This documentary is of Rick Simpson in Canada. It's been one of the most eye opening thing I've ever watched.

Didn't know smoking dope was a cancer treatment. I always thought it was used to help people to deal with the side effects of the treatment and the pain associated with cancer.

I really don't have 58 minutes to sit down and watch a video but I did watch some. You say drug companies could not make money off of this. If it really is the cure all that it is said to be, they could make a fortune off it. It has to be processed right? They could process it and market it. People now days would not do it themselves ecpecially given the hazards involved in processing. Heck people don't grow wheat and then grind it and then bake their bread. If it really was a cure all, companies would be tripping all over themselves to sell it as a processed product. It would be a commodity just like wheat, corn and beans.

@skidoorulz Yes they could make good money off if. But if you figure out how much they charge for cancer surgeries, chemo/radiation & the super expensive drugs you have to take to counteract all the poison there pushing into your body. There's way more money in the treatment then the cure.

Not to mention if the big companies made it too expensive you could do it yourself. I can't just walk into my greenhouse & give myself chemo/radiation. But I sure as hell can grow a couple of the right plants!

@Beard. Yes I've also seen this one. Dr. Burzynski has done a phenomenal job in his treatment of cancers that other won't touch. He's got about a 60% cure rate on cancers that usually kill almost 100%. He uses direct gene therapy in his office. The government has been screwing with him since he's started because he uses treatments in a way that's not approved by "Big Brother". Our government has drug this man into court time & time again trying to shut him down. If this doesn't at least tweak your brain that there's alot more BS out there then I don't know what will.

I dare anyone to watch the first 3:33 on beards post and try not to shed a tear!! And listen to what he says about his daughter... She died from chemo/radiation not cancer.

I can say this.....Cancer is a KILLER! It is also very quiet about it at first. But, I will add to this that while it may be quiet in some cases, chemo is right in your face. It sucks the life right out of you. It is definitely a very potent chemical that interupts the normal functioning body. Regarding this money aspect. It is absolutely disheartening to think of what cancer can do to someone financially. Throw in insurance and who knows what things total out to. I can say this that it can be greater than 10 grand a month just for chemo. Throw in a surgery or 2 and some 2 or 3 day follow ups and you're sunk. On a business standpoint, heck ya, protect that. From a humanity standpoint, not so sure, something smells. From a political standpoint, well, they probably want a piece don't ya think!

Pharma makes huge money. Huge. But it is also a game of Russian roulette as they spend billions to get a drug approved. If that goes south, so do they.

Cancer is cells from the body that are either have 1) the "on" button stuck on or the 2) "off" button stuck off. These are your own cells reproducing without control. As such, the medications given must kill cells that, in truth, are you! There isn't a magic bullet unless we have found a specific genetic target to attack with highly expensive biologic agents. Billions have gone into the process to ensure that there is some regulation to a toxic process. Yes, it is expensive, a lot due to the recent(ish) boom in biologic agents that can hit specific targets and took billions to become an FDA approved. Someone has to pay for it on the other end. Not too many businesses survive without profit or at least breaking even.

Something crazy like 60% of health care costs are incurred in the last 2 years of life. Do we need to spend like this? No. But people want to live, and want their family members to live as well. Medicine doesn't ever save a life. It can lengthen it. Many countries in Europe do not spend like we do, and as such at certain ages there is no treatment offered. It is an interesting concept, but wouldn't work in America as most of us feel we deserve a chance to beat the system at any cost. Thing is, if we live long enough, we're all going to get cancer. Guaranteed. So, live healthy and keep your eyes open to enjoy as much of it as possible.

a fella that I worked with has a blood cancer and he is going through treatment to get it into remission...one of his treatments of which he does eight of for his 8 chemo treatments is the 5 pills he has to take in conjunction of the chemo.

THE 5 PILLS ALONE IS 2500.00 BUCKS...!!...LUCKY OUR MEDICARE IN Canada pays it.
But realistically the cost does get back to us taxpayers one way or another...and really what company would ever want to truly cure a cash cow...???

I am suspicious of the vaccinations of kids and for flu's etc because I think they have likely crap in the vaccinations to delibertly make us sick in the future so we are potential customers.

Wow

Was doing a little searching on the costs of chemo/radiation & came across this.
Mmmmm I wouldn't want to give away this type of cash cow. GREED is the root of most evil.

"My son's current medical bill for over two and a half years of fighting cancer is well over one million dollars. Fortunately our insurance has covered nearly all of it.

The first year he had high dose chemotherapy for nine months as an inpatient at the hospital and each visit was approximately $25,000 for three to five days . . a good portion of that bill was the cost of chemotherapy. My son has had three major surgeries (2 abdominal and 1 thoracic) and all of them were in the $50,000 range."

Spoken like someone who has a brain in his head.

As if the emotional side of it wasn't enough to deal with huh..... I feel for ya on this. I'm 3 months into this myself and I would fuzzily calculate about 3-400k. Each chemo treatment is $5500 every other week. It is the actual medicine cost because I take it home for 48 hours. It would be interesting to be able to determine initial cost from the manufacturer and watch the upscale along the way. Business is business, I understand that, I have my own. I know that I have to be reasonable in profit % otherwise I don't get the new business. These Dr offices have to function as a business but I do wonder how these numbers originate and then become what they become. Hmmmmmm!

No new treatments in decades??? Gimme a second whilst I roll on the floor with laughter.

Ok, I'm back whew I haven't laughed that hard in awhile. But back to the point, doesn't it seem unusual that from the 80s or 90s how many people got cancer and died compared to today where it seems like many more people get cancer and live multiple years after it? Funny how that works. They must have gotten really good at doing nothing different.

And I'm sure your going to argue,"Well yes polaris dude people are living but its still the same TREATMENTS because that is the word I like to use" Well, my answer to that is that chemo is a blend of agents which are used to hopefully specifically target cells in your body that are replicating at a rapid rate that are dysfunctional. These cells have been genetically altered but only SLIGHTLY so they do not function quite right in most cases. Now, the chemicals used themselves have all been changed thousands perhaps millions of times to attempt to not only individualize for each type of cancer but also to try to find the most beneficial concoction. I must say they have surely gotten closer to killing cancer cells without harming the host, just look at the live/die ratio in cancers from today and back in the 80s/90s they must be doing something right.

Also, There is no curing cancer. Each of us has cells that are genetically mutated whether its from the suns rays or something we eat it happens thousands of times a day. The only thing preventing us from getting cancer are other cells in our body that detect these errors and take the out. As each person gets older this system works less and less so as people age they are more prone to cancer.
