best performance kit

I got a 2011 assault rmk and I want to do something to it this year to gain some hp and performance and im just wondering what some of the kits out there have to offer. I like bikemans kits and rk teks drop-in kit but it sounds like there isn't any hp gains from it. My problem is idk if I wanna do clutching or a new top end. Id like to keep my spending at around a grand or less. Thanks!

I have had some first had experience with the power addiction head on the 11's with a stock pipe and can and some good clutching. it was very impresive for just a head and pump gas. plus the price was very inexpensive..

SLP has the best kit, IMO but you need the hole kit, pipe exc. So your cost is a bit more..

I'm in the same boat, either the SLP stage 4 or RK 858, from what I've read the gains and the price are similar.

Fastrax

I've heard good things about what the guys at FTX are doing. That's who my motor is being sent to. Best to call and chat with Curt

Anyone care to elaborate on the North Star kit? Dependability, seat of the pants fill, price? What exactly do they do to the engine?

Well for starters, I'm getting MY13 cylinders and they're going to machine the upper case half of my MY12 motor to accept the cylinders that will be fitted to OEM pistons.

As far as performance, it's all about what you want. The main thing being some unique massaging from Ruth Power Porting. I won't disclose here what exactly he is doing. Couple that with the SLP pipe, some head work and clutching and you have a recipe for a ripper.

FTX and Ruth Power have quite a reputation with some of the smartest 2-stroke guys that I know... Certain people's recommendation towards them (that have no affiliation with FTX) was all I needed to know that I am in good hands.

Call em up, they'd love to chat about your wants and what they offer.

Here's what it is in a nut shell!! IMO I believe that all the kits available on the market work, and work well for each person. But for any of these kits to preform at all you must have the clutching right for your sled riding style and elevation. With out that you can take the best running sled with the most HP and screw up the clutching and a stock 440 will run all over it.. So if your on a limit to what you want to spend on "said" kit make sure you spend the cash to clutch it right or the rest of the purchase will be a waste.

X2

Clutching is huge, it will make or break any setup.
I am not sure where you are located but Tri city Polaris (Ben) has a really good clutch setup with only using a can and the clutching. I promise you won't be disappointed with the clutching. I put it on my wife's sled and it is quite a big difference from factory.

I am having FTX case mod fir 13 cyl and Rooster Built clutching here. If funds allow, Ruth porting and SLP pipe.

All about reliability and efficient power delivery with proven track records.

thanks for all the info guys it really helps! im thinking I might do the rk tek drop in kit with this clutch set up http://bikemanperformance.com/snowm...rush-assault-rmk-stage-2-tied-clutch-kit.html has anyone tried this clutch set up yet?

If you do the RKT drop in kit do whatever Kelsey tells you for clutching... I'm sure he's got it dialed perfect.

And it will be cheaper. Probably team adjustable weights and stock secondary... But talk to him he's a wealth of knowledge.

for that kind of money the Indy dan set up sounds like a better deal , balance both your primary and new tied secondary with clutch mods for$700 +

never heard much about bikemen, I would guess they are not as good as they make it sound.

or this clutch kit from slp does anyone have any info on this kit?http://www.startinglineproducts.com...iew=clutch&catalogID=3&catID=17&productID=605

Yeah I think you be a lot happier by going with RKT since he knows exactly what works at altitude with his drop-in kit.

I wouldn't try a generic kit from SLP or BMP... I really don't see the point to spend more money to get something that has minimal testing time with the set-up you're going with. Just my opinion.

Better fitting cast pistons, shimed cylinder, machined head, control box, timing change. They claim up to 18 hp increase. Better fitting pistons thus more dependable. Price is probably the most expensive of the group. Cheaper than SLP's kits and more dependable. There's is a big thread about on here.

Is Curt having good luck with the stock pistons? He knows his stuff. I still have my Union Bay motor in an old '03 Revegade that no normal aspirated sled has beaten yet (Ruth porting - yay).

Have FUN!
