I would also like to know the best way to straight the cooler? Apply heat and big hammer? This has been a good thread! Thanks for all the good ideas! and pictures!

07 m1000 with 2009 tunnel / end cap/ flap / taillite AND BDX conversion combined- Best of both worlds
Use your 07 cooler..$ave $ome Money

Looks great! Why not the 09 Foot Supports; they look stronger being riveted both to the top and sides? I also would like to know about bending the cooler.

I used a press and some 1/2" steel plate to flatten mine. I thought about heating, but it did fine without. I did it with the curved part up and the two edges that were down, I put some copper under. Just go slow.

Better and stronger and MUCH better looking

Once you see the BDX foot supports- you will see that they are twice as strong as the stock 09 cheap strap's. The BDX actually support the running board area and in the triangle shape thay are- back the entire tunel and rail one unit- not just a riveted in strap lapping over the tunnel to the board area.

Just my 02 !

Great thread guys! I THINK I ordered everything I need from Cat last week. Among other things, I ordered the bumper, supports, cooler, flap assy, and extension. Did I miss anything I may need?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Ya the tail light assembly.

Ya wasted :eek:money if you odered the 09 cooler
Go with the BDX soot supports at the least- there is a HUGE diifference!!!

The '09 cooler makes it possible to shorten the tunnel by 4" and if you use the right length bumper the rear end ends up being 5-6"s shorter then stock. Shorter the better I think.:o

Why go with a shorter tunnel? you end up sucking the flap in the track- or maybe your not running a flap?
Ever try to dig a sled out with a short rear bumper....... No Thanks
Maybe just run a 121 tunnel with a 162 track... Yep that should fill the void.

The 09 rear tunnel extension is 3" shorter than an 08 or 07..

I have a hard time thinking this '09 flap is going to get sucked up by the track when it sticks out this far.

No... of course a 121 tunnel is to short. The '09 tunnels are as short as i would go. I'm not too concerned about lifting the rear of the tunnel with the shorter bumper. I get stuck so few times nowa days that is not a big concern of mine.:beer;

That works for you.

Yes that looks good- But again I cut my rear flap down so it didn't look like a Kenworth mud flap
A gloved hand is tight in the bumper area you have given especially when you have dug it in and the flap is laying against the rear bumper.
As you stated:
"I'm not too concerned about lifting the rear of the tunnel with the shorter bumper. I get stuck so few times nowa days that is not a big concern of mine."

Generally modifications reflect peeps riding styles

I see that there are some off you who have the 09 heat exchanger. I am also thinking to go with that on my 08 with BDX. What do I need to replace the stock exchanger with the 09? Just the exchanger?

if your looking to replace your rear cooler call mike at vanamberg just about as cheap and a beter cooler than the stock 09. Mikes cooler will also bolt/rivet right in with no pluming required Rodger
