Belt Drive Failure

I was riding with my buddy first time out went 8 miles and ripped a third of the cogs off just like the pics in the other post. Just wondering if it is becoming a problem. I was looking at trading my 12 assault but worried that it will be a problem on these new pros. How many have had these fail or no of any failures.

Pics please!

Also, was the sled still rideable with torn cogs, or did you have to tow him out?

just a thought here: it could be possible that if the driveshaft end is coming loose (bad glue) from the main driveshaft tube and creating a wobble effect therefore creating a moment of slack on the belt and stripping the cogs. if this is the case the driveshaft could be the main culprit here, not the belts.

Runout was talked about on another thread.
Granto, can you check the bottom sprocket for runout or wobble while you turn the shaft?

belt

My dealer called said make sure to read & understand belt break in. 50% throttle varring that for 100 miles. no wot or steep & deep.the belt is v groved. pullys are round. so both have breake in. to each other.
wish we had snow so I can start break in.
Every post all says different miles cogs riped off no one is giving any info.
as how they were rideing. :hurt:

I know of one case of torn off cogs and it was when the brakes were spiked on a high traction area. If the brake was on the drive axle, then this would not be an issue. All of the breaking force is transferred through the belt, so when you take something that is 50 lbs or more and rotating hard...it takes huge force to stop it.
Do not spike the brakes! lol

At this point I'm not worried about mine, but I will have a spare.
