ayone else ride with ear plugs?

when you get used to them you'll want to wear them more often. I want to get a pair of EarShots for riding and hunting but they'll have to wait for a little bit. i think i notice more with them in then without them.

thats one thing i still thank my dad for pushing me to protect my hearing while farming and working at a young age. Cause i got to expericence the ringing once for awhile and it sucks. the doctor says if i hadn't put an ear plug in to stop the ear drum from going crazy(when i put the plg in it stopped ringing and if i took it out it would start again) i'd probably have constant ringing like others, but he said it healed amazing and he couldn't tell any hearing loss to my right ear even though i know there was a little bit. But i wore an ear plug in that ear for a month or so before my ear wouldn't ring.

I feel lucky since i was hunting with my friend and he got buck fever so dam bad that he ended up touching off 2 rounds out of his rifle with the end of the barrel about a foot away from my right ear.

ear protection is something that can't be stressed enough, you'll regret it if you don't

be choosy. there are some ear plugs that take away too much situational awareness and that can be dangerous. by removing your hearing from sledding only forces your other senses to work harder. I totally condone ear protection, just be careful.

Keeping ear plugs around is a pretty good idea for all of us. When regular plugs aren't handy there's alway the old stand-by. Northern. Saves hearing and shirt sleeves. Good idea to keep a roll within reach. At least when all else fails. Light and doesn't take up much trunk space. Even a half roll could save your a$$. Your riding buddies will appreciate knowing there's a source of protection too. Not only for when they forget their ear plugs but also when everyone loads up for the ride off the mountain.......

this ones getting a mid season bump.

Protect those ears people, one of the things that cannot be healed by modern medicine yet...

I'm going to push these some more. The more I wear them at work and at play the more impressed I am with them. The only thing they aren't adequate for is shooting...

I have a T Apex and I use them most of the time.

I usually use the orange ones, they do not seem to do a very good job of stopping the deep sounds of the T Apex.

If you mean the orange Howard Leights, IIRC they have one of the best NRR's available. And again, IIRC, the low frequency sounds are the hardest to stop with earplugs...

Snowrider, someone who gets that uncontrollable over some dumb *** deer is someone I woudn't want to be in the same State with if they had a rifle in their hand. Better find a better hunting partner. ;)

use to shoot ISPIC and race moto. now teach cops how to shoot, nothin better than earplugs, does not matter what kind.

I know some sgts who forgot there's stuck 9mm slugs in and shot a quall (50 rounds). never take your hearing lightly.

(please don't use 9mm round when riding!)

Dad had tinnitus, says it's hell...

Me, I got a triple-triple:face-icon-small-sad

Dont care for that obnoxious loud pipes and wanted a 3 into 1 silencer. Got a HTG can made for 1100 XCR big bore kits cuz I guessed it would flow enough.
To loud!!

So I'll test along for something better, probably make one myself.

I have Tinnitus in both ears. Not sure what caused it but the VA gives me a disability for it as they say it was caused by intense noise in Vietnam. Yes, that dates me back further than all of you I would assume :) I also flew jets for 30 years which didn't help matters. I now wear ear plugs while sledding. Much more comfortable and you can hear better actually, engine noise anyway.

If you can prevent Tinnitus I would highly recommend it. It can really really make you absolutely crazy at times. Very annoying and you will never ever hear quiet again your entire life. I can be in total seclusion, total quiet but that ringing in your ears just gets louder.

Modular w/ear plugs equals....comfort.

I wear ear plugs when I sled, hunt, use powertools and sometimes when I sleep ( the wife snores occasionally):).

well i have been using the ear plugs that hotboat made me last year and so far i dont have head aches or ringing ears after a day of riding! they are comfy under my helmut and the only thing i hate about them is when they fall out of my hand and in the snow!!!! lol

I have Tinnitus as well. Ears ring 24/7 for weeks on end with high pitch ringing. I had custom plugs made a couple of years ago. Can hear the engine no problem. It's just a duller sound. Only problem is when you stop and someone wants to talk to you. Must take plugs out then but it's worth it for the protection.

All the time...

I not only wear them on the sled, but on the riding lawn mower, on my motorcycle, using the chain saw, yard vac and leaf blower! Bought some that I can still hear talking but the loud droning noises are shut out!

The only way to go!

Hey Ragincajun, I'm pleased to read you are wearing your ear protection, I made molded plugs for all my riding buds. I miss placed mine on the last ride and after ten minutes could hardly stand it. On our lunch break I searched untill i found them and what a diff i swear i can hear the motor and clutches better. Anyway hope all is well and maybe we will see you on the hill........
