ayone else ride with ear plugs?

All the years of duck hunting I've done and bringing dumbazz buddies with that swing a little too far my way I wish I was wearing some.
Only 30 and can't hear chet when there's background noise.

Coming from the midwest were MOST of us wear full face helmets cause it gets so damn cold I definetly noticed mx helmets lets more noise in.

Or like some have mentioned mp3 player with ear buds. Get the kind that are rubber and fit in your ear, they cancel out outside noise REAL well, ask the people I work with.:)

Max lite work good, just stay away from the ones with the plastic sticks. The only thing worse than noise is running a stick down your ear if you wreck.

I haven't worn the sledding but at the Millville MX National I picked up some of the orange colered water ear plugs from Target for the 2.5 year old. She wore them all day and didn't complain about them or the noise of the 450 bikes. I threw some in as well and loved them

what?

i just use the foam ones from the drugstore, they provide some protection and you can still hear the engine well enough....even a stock sled is too loud for my ears

Even wind noise can damage your hearing, so loud sleds aren't the only reason. As far as tunes, I seem to hear my helmet speakers better with plugs on my motorcycle because of the lower wind noise. I don't wear them as much as I should, but I'm much more relaxed after a long ride when I do wear them.

As far as types, just look at the local sporting goods store or drug store and pick up some disposable one. I use moldex and Max (pictured earlier) at work and like them the best. I like the ones with some taper as opposed to tube looking foam. If you want to reuse the disposables a little, just put them in your jeans pocket when wash your pants, it'll take all the ear wax off and you can wear them again. Probably want at least a 30 db reduction, but most offer that.

thanks for all the suggestions guys! i didnt think i would get this much response to this post. im gunna go get me som for the weekend and see which ones i like the best! thanks again for the help guys!
cheers!:beer;:D

A few years ago, I contracted Minere's deasise. I've lost 80% of my hearing in my left ear and about 45% in my right. I ALWAYS wear ear protection, mowing the lawn, shooting trap/skeet and riding my sled!
Once it's gone, you'll never get it back - hearing aids are a poor second place to your real ears......

I was a gun show years ago. There was booth that the guy takes a mold of you ear and forms a set to fit "your" ears. I got a pair and LOVE them. I might have a card with the box at home I will check.

hearing

I bought 2 pair last summer for riding motorcycle. Custom made by a company called Big Ear. www.bigearinc.com. I tried them out at a show last winter and had to wait all summer to get some made after deciding they were the ticket. By far the best ear plugs ever. custom made to your ear so they never get uncomfortable. You can get them with speakers also good sound quality. I used these on my road bike can use at low level and have no road noise. I paid about three hundred for speaker ones got the others for free with purchase probaly about 50.00

Seriously dont waste money on other ear plugs No BS these are the bomb

These are win though:

best earplugs on the market.

I ride with em on my dirtbike with the race pipe, don't wear em with the sleds though. Makes comms with your fellow riders difficult when they don't have helmet radio setups.

I have custom ones as well, wouldn't go back to the foam ones, though they do work great. When I wore disposable ones I rocked EAR Classic's. They block more sound than my customs, but aren't as comfortable.

i wear some orange ones that came in a package that i bought from a store. lol the current set i've used for a few years...i really need to replace them. just the foam ones, one has lost its ability to 're-expand' properly... but yeah, can't ride a day w/o ear plugs w/o having my ears / head hurt at the end of the day.

i have a pretty tight helmet, so when i take it off, usually pull one of them loose, i try to keep my helmet on most the time anyway... i can't hear when talkin too well, but i usually let people know i'm wearing em... or they figure it out cuz i'm yelling at em. hahah

E.A.R. brand foam plugs gets my vote but I've never tried the custom molded ones. The custom would probably be much quicker to install. Might be worth a trip to the ENT Doc to get a custom set?

It is a very good idea to wear them even on a stock machine. I try to wear them as much as possible but when boondocking with new guys I'll not wear them because it is more difficult to hear what people are saying. If I know we'll be jumping on a long trail back to the truck I try to put them in.

A day of riding with plugs in leaves me much more refreshed at the end of the day with no ringing.

They also come in handy if your riding buddy snores at night, visiting the inlaws, tec. LOL

the current set i've used for a few years.
Sorry to be blunt, but that is just retarded. If you use the same set twice, let alone hundreds of times, you are asking for an ear infection (of the foam type). The custom molded ones are a different story, but you still have to take care of them.

Whats the point when an entire box of the Howard Leight Max plugs is only 40 bucks. Hell of a lot cheaper then suffering through an ear infection.

lol thats funny^^^^. but anyways i have tried the ipod thing and it turned out to be kind of a pain cause they wont stay in even with a baclava on so ya....i think ill try a dif pair of head phones and see how that turns out. thanks!
cheers!
