Axys Reviews?

well I believe these last few posts have sealed the deal for me. I also agree, cant risk spending that much on a sled that needs to go back right away cuz it wont idle or go into reverse. From the midwest so after a long drive I want to ride... don't hate on me to much.. sticking with the skidoo. see what next year brings us. looks like an awesome ride

Why not just start it up at the dealer and see how it idles and goes into reverse before you buy? It isn't like all of them are flawed. Mine has 500 trouble free and extremely FUN miles on it. Most of my riding buddies are on new Doo's. Nice sled but not even close to the Axys IMO.

Just got back from Island Park. A rider in our group has a 800 SKS 155". All agree it's an awesome sled and no need for a turbo unless possibly you want to climb chutes that we would have no interest in climbing. Awesome in the trees, side hilling, butt kicking boondocking. Very impressive!

Love this new sled. Stock 163 x 3 (w/ GGB can) and came off 11" boost-it 163. Mine would hardly idle and did not go into reverse when I purchased it. Not much fuel in the tank when purchased and had dealers oil already dumped in tank. So i added some premium and 25% av and filled the sled up, put sled into prem. mode, installed a GGB MTN can and tried idling at home to heat cycle in. This thing still idled like ****, dash flickering and went into reverse 1 out of 7 try's. I had unplugged the ECM, took the some stuff apart just to see how this new unit was put together and installed a tether & muffpot. Headed to Revy (with a spare sled in the trailer) and pulled it out of the front door of the trailer and all of a sudden this thing ran like it should.....idle was up & went into reverse no problem !
Broke it in fairly hard on the trail and never missed a beat. I never did notice any power difference at 2.5 hrs either. Knock on wood, but i have 350 miles and on original plugs.

Yep.
Best sled i've ever ridden.

No problems with my grip warmers. Hot is hot and low is...not as hot. I need them because I use very think gloves.

Polaris needs to rework the TPS. Their sensor has always been temperamental.

If grip warmers and a TPS are the worst issues of the Axys, I'd say it is a hit. Loving mine, motor is very strong.

I noticed my buddies axys idles 1600rpm or below and it took me many tries to get it in reverse to unload it. He is a very good rider with 600 or so miles on it and never said a word about the way it ran other than it "rips". I think once people get out and see how amazing the sled is they will forget about the low idle issue. Having said that mine idles 18-1900 and runs amazing.

I would be fine with a consistent 1600. After break in mine idles down to where the lights and gauge go off.....

My hands got cold too, mine idled at 1600 RPMs. I checked the TPS last night and the base setting was at .77 volts and idle was at .932 volts.

Reset base to .7 and idle to .94 and wow, idle is back to 1800 and the hand warmers are now on at idle.

Wish I had done this earlier.:face-icon-small-hap

I can't stand my Axys so far, biggest POS new sled I've ever owned. Back and forth dealing with the TPS issue, TPS investigated and re-configured at dealer again yesterday and still has same symptoms after test ride. Sled has less than 5 miles on it and won't idle or go into reverse without dying. Mine isn't worth a single penny that I've spent on it so far. Glad a lot of you guys are happy with your purchase and properly setup TPS, but the TPS issue is and continues to be a major problem for some of us. Make an offer for mine if you are looking for one because so far I hate this sled. Already have a case started with Polaris, but that isn't doing me much good as the snow season wilts away each passing day and my brand new sled sputters to stay alive.
Not sure if mine is a TPS issue also, but mine has the exact same issues. I attribute them to it drowning the engine in oil during break in. I fouled a set of plugs when trying to get it to idle to warm up. If I burp the throttle it runs perfectly. As for not going into reverse, once the engine temp comes up it will pop into reverse but you have to be ready to burp the throttle again as soon as it starts. I only have 4 miles on it and I am hoping these issues goes away after the 2.5 hour extra oil period.

I agree, mine seems to be drowning in oil as well from break in. Dealer adjusted tps, idle still cut out, replaced plugs too, then told me to run the full tank of break in gas/oil to see if any improvement. If no improvement, load it back up and drive four hours for another tps adjustment next weekend. :face-icon-small-dis

really frustrating!

I wouldn't get too worried about how the Axys runs until you get on the second tank of fuel and at least 3 hour on the engine. For the first 2.5 hours with the exta oil in the tank and the increased output of the oil pump your running like 4x the oil you will later. Mine kept getting stronger and reving higher until I had 10 hours on it, so I wouldn't adjust the clutching if my RPM was a couple hundred low until I had around 10 hours on the motor either. Get an extra set of plugs and just ride it...

Hand warmers don't turn on until 2200 rpm, if it drops below 1500 rpm they shut back off. If yours won't idle it is most likely why the warmers suck. Mine were a bit hot for bare hands especially the thumb. But when it sits and doesn't idle they obviously are cold.

My report was after running down the trail and hands were bitter cold- stopped to check with gloves off and found out why- left side fair Flipper side not working- neither was the thumb warmer.
Dealer gave me all new- corking in the morning and X my fingers.. And com-on Re-flash!!!:face-icon-small-win

Other than the initial cold Idle.. sled is a hit !

I get that it can be a real pain in the azz, but we have to remember, these are machines that we expect to live for thousands of miles at peak rpm. Maybe we forget that these engines have peak specific output of 200 hp per litre!

To put it in perspective, my AMG at 6.2 L of displacement would have to have 1,240HP to be equivalent! What's it cost to get that kind of power? As Dr. Evil would say.. Meeeellllyuns to afford a Bugatti Veyron..

Needless to say, whenever I push the throttle on a shade less than half that, I'm tickled, even though it costs me oil at $20/L etc.

Or how we complain about slow service on an airline flight somewhere. Really? We're sitting in air conditioned comfort, hurtling through the atmosphere at speeds about 630 Mph, and someone is serving us beer in our seats. Maybe just appreciate the engineering marvel at the things we take somewhat for "granted" and cut a few folks some slack. After all, it's just guys and gals like you and me designing/building these things.

Hey, mistakes happen from time to time. I'd love mine to be bulletproof from start to finish too. Turns out mine almost burned down on it's first ride because someone at the factory couldn't get the fuel line fittings closed properly on the feed line. Inconvenient for sure, 3 hour drive to the dealer, yup. Poo never paid for the $65.00 in premium that got dumped into the bellypan either.

Still got fixed, and I still love the sled. Sorry for the soapbox rant, and it's not directly aimed at mmth either, sorry if it comes across that way. Just a general observation. Lots of really intelligent, hardworking, people put a LOT of time and effort into designing/building these for us, they jet need a break now and then :face-icon-small-hap

Remember, they could have been working across the road in Tuff Rubber Balls, and we'd all be riding Arctic Cat right now :face-icon-small-win:bowl:

We have 2 new Axys sleds, 3 Pro-Rmks and 6 XM doo sleds in our group, Axys is very nice and very balanced sled very easy to ride, very easy to sidehill but still underpowered compared skidoo. So far no problems except 1 busted lower A-arm, guy hit rock really hard. I have skidoo and 155 Pro-Rmk and most of my time i ride Poo and only once in while Doo. Will order 2017 Axys for 100%. forgot to mention 2 die hard skidoo guys are planing to switch to Poo sleds. I will post more info next week we are going to have 3 days trip.

I've rode new Axys and Doo's...I don't agree that the new motor is underpowered! If anything, I believe the snappiness and quick revving engine that Polaris has developed out does the Doos...

I should update: My only complaint has been the idle on this sled. Had my dealer look at it, they adjusted the TPS and now it idles at 1800-1850. It's pretty much perfect now!

Everyone who has the idle problem does your sled idle fine after its warmed up and after you've been riding it? The only time mine has low idle is when I start it up for the day after that it idles fine throughout the day. It is kind of annoying but I feel like we could all be having bigger issues. If a little low idle is all I have to deal with I'll take that as a W with a first year sled/motor.

I wouldn't say mine idles fine after being warmed up, it idles, but very low after engine is warm (around 1400 rpm). I think it's extremely annoying to have a brand new sled that you have to hold the throttle to get up to temp to pull off the sled deck. Especially when you have to re-start it again 10 times to get into reverse to back off the deck. Should have bought the ES version because I'm wearing out my pull cord at this rate. No new sled owner should be satisfied when they bought their sled three weeks ago, will have made three trips to the dealer by this weekend and missed out on some of the best riding conditions of the past four years out here in CA, all because I purchased one of the Friday afternoon specials that came out with a bad TPS..
Can't understand why some guys are having such success after dealer adjusts TPS the first time and others are not.. sure hope they get mine right with this latest visit.
