Are the 09's really that bad?

We're going to Rabbit Ears on December 10th and we're taking a long a brand new 09 with no miles on it because we have no snow around home and I'm already hearing some bad reports on the 09 XP's. Should we be worried or what are some must do things for it to be ready and hopefully not have any problems. It's getting the clutches aligned right now because the primary was so hot you couldn't put your hand on it after moving it twenty feet from the trailer to the garage so just wondering what else to get taken care of right away.
Thanks a lot for any help!

No problems w/ my 09. It just "woke up" this weekend and I couldn't be happier--absolutely rips!

Everyone I've seen who is having problems rushed the break in process and got into deep snow too soon, had a bad dealer set up, or went and hit a rock already. Make sure to stay on the roads and below 7200rpm--there's a lot of new snow that just fell up here to temp you into being stupid. The roads past Columbine are much better for breaking in a new sled.

Don't judge the 09 until you actually ride it

I bought an 07 Summit and before I drove it I was ready to burn the thing to the ground listening to all the doom and gloom on here. Turns out that 2 seasons later 1) no blown belts 2) no blown cranks 3) no mechanical issues at all 4) Scared myself more than once with how well it would climb.
Now I will concede that probably a lot of this had to do with the fact that I followed a lot of the problems and fixes that other folks here on SW were kind enough to share. Identify the obvious flaws and correct them and you will probably be fine. Remember that the vast majority of people out there don't post "my 09 XP rips and I love it". I have an 09 and after doing a few of the obvious tweaks, I am going to give it a chance before I do any real surgery.

C'mon snow! :beer;

If you really got your clutches that hot in 20 feet, you must have been slipping way bad and should have smoked the crap out of your belt and left alot of it on your clutches. Give the sled a chance to see how it does for your style of riding then maybe tweak it to fit. That is what I am going to do.

There are no updates for 09's. Dont believe all tghe internet crap. You'll have an amazing ride on that 09'.

After paying 11 grand i refuse to think it is a junker!! I just need some snow to prove me right. After all BRP would not sell a sled that has issues right? But you know what everybody keeps coming back even with the issues they have had because we all know that nothing rips like a ski doo and it is worth the few issues they have. yeah you may get a little more reliability out of a different brand but you will not be the king of the hill!

Buy offer.

I will buy all junk 09 XP's for half price--standing offer;)

Do not think I am going to see many takers--LOL

Winterbrew is probabley right---Clean your clutches--and your belt as well as the dealers are not going to spend the time to do this--You will be lucky if they even start them to see if they run---LOL

It will be the same ole story we have seen for 30 years on all sleds--they can all use some tweaking to get them where we want them--and that will all depend on the person riding them:)

H20SKE...

I'm picking up my 09 x 154 in Wyoming next week and can't wait. We figured we would play around on trails and take it easy for a couple of days. What is the recommended break-in procedure?

same here --take it a little easy for 10 to 20 miles to get the belt broke in and hammer it:D:D

Glad to here it.....almost felt bad with my 08, first ride last year was 4ft of fresh snow. Took the long way around (25min) up the road to get to the alpine then it was working all day.

Previous sleds I had babied a bit the first day but not this one. So I'm glad to hear you guys run yours like a rental right out of the box as well.

parking brake in on position ??

Got it back from the dealer today and the clutches were a little bit out of alignment. What is the oil on the clutches that winter brew was talking about and what do you use to clean the clutches and the belt off?
Thanks

Soap & water, compressed air to blow them dry. Don't use any solvents!
