Arctic Cat in Trouble

Think I paid a bit over 20k for my 858 out the door with tax. That was fancy gauge and atac shocks plus Cat accessory boards, skidplate and drive protectors, and the accessory bumpers. The bumpers seemed pretty nice so that saved me on buying bmp again. I mostly ride around 10k and I do know Im down on hp based on elevation but Im a newer rider and honestly never felt my 800 was holding me back power wise. If offered I still would not have bought a turbo this time. Maybe in a few years I would benefit from a turbo but not now. But in my opinion I do get the point that sometimes you have to give the customers what they want. If they want a turbo give it to them. Kinda like the twin rail. Some customers just want it for what ever reason for what their preferences. I don’t get why they don’t put a twin rail on the riot for the mountain guys that want a twin rail, maybe throw more cooler on it and the guys that boondock in the upper midwest would definitely appreciate it or anyone that rides more marginal snow.

Typical rumor, but I heard a couple of days ago Bobcat was looking at the facilities and manufacturing to build their equipment in. Didn’t even want “Arctic Cat.”
Well I like bobcat and my local dealer is great so I wouldn’t mind buying sleds from them too. but not sure I want them wrench on my sled, not sure they have small enough hammers lol

But them just buying Cat just for the manufacturing and workforce would suck.

The people around there may need something being built in the factory to make it though!?
Maybe just maybe .,.
This is all some weird marketing thing?
No one would make dramatic investments to walk away? They could have used the last of the ascender parts and sold the tooling and then closed? Confusing

That could be a conflict of interest, look up Bobcat Textron zero turn mower.
Textron is way bigger then we give them credit for. I've seen their fingers on many manufactures when I started working on equipment in the 80s.
They have plans and taking a loss isn't one of them.

😆🤣 You’re talking about the same Textron that ran Cat into the ground. That Textron?

They’d have actually made some money had they left Cat alone to keep doing their thing. Instead they used it as a training ground for inexperienced managers and a tax write off year after year.

Yeah that's the key difference, I've never ridden at 10K in my life. Got close a couple of times at about 9400', but those times are few and far between and only for a brief moment.
Most of my riding is 3k-6500' where the horsepower loss due to elevation is not as severe. If I lived where you unloaded at 6K-7K and went up from there, then I probably would consider a boost.
I mostly ride in the 7-9k range; I can get to 10k if I want to, but the best snow is never at the top. My 800 is adequate unless it's pretty deep, and the 850-class sleds are a noticeable jump from that. Still, it's a range where boost is coming in pretty nicely. 3-6k definitely seems like "why bother?" range to me - it makes a difference, but like 20HP vs. 40HP at 9k. Doesn't seem worth the extra money, weight, and one more thing to break at that. I suppose it shifts to more of a need above 10k, and there are places you'd go that high, but not many. Also, how many of us can ride that high without needing boost as much as the sled!

It will be interesting to see what unfolds over the next few months. Personally cats ATV’s and SXS’s are terrible compared to BRP and Polaris. Ditch them and stream line their sled devision ( 1 basic in season, 1 fancy snowcheck only) don’t need multiple models and all the options, simplify. They put so much R&D into the monorail, catalyst, 858 it wouldn’t make sense to close up shop, it’s my favourite N/A right now.

What a lot of people have mentioned and will kill Arctic cat is a profitable business just needed more manufacturing capacity offering Textron a buyout.

Twin rail needs to be an option too for the mountain sleds. Not that I wouldn't go for an Alpha, but I just think there's enough people who would only buy a twin rail that it would be worth having the option.

Could very well be,, may be they'll collect on the policy they cut kind of like the sinking a royal military ship.😊

I'm still thinking they will come out smelling like a rose.

Bobcat was just another little old company started in the same neck of the woods. Didn't even have a cage, you'd stick your finger in a hole below the seat to choke the carb to start the Wisconsin engine. We had one,, chain drive, once it started bucking all you could do was let go of the sticks because it was so violent and you were half ass lucky from not being thrown out from multiple directions😂

When you talk Textron Blackrock and Vanguard aren't for off on the distance.

In 2022 BobCat was a 6.7 billion with its office in South Korea.

I disagree they need to offer more options just like the other two. Plus the XX wild cat has the best suspension out there IMO they just need to, again give more options. Like a 4 seater XX to compete with the other 4 seaters. More color options, build your own options like pick your shock package, twin rail or mono rail, gauge type, type of running boards, etc but made for you at the factory not as add on’s. If you didn’t have to get just the blue one with all the fancy stuff and you could get the black one with the same stuff on it they would have had better profits. Most guys wanted the black one but then they had to order the G8 as an add on, and most guys will probably get different shocks for the black one etc. Just my thought.

Here’s a twin rail with a shiny wrap that’s purty!

All power sports is hurting. Last I read was that Polaris’s profits are down 80% and doo has laid off 30% of its workforce. Ktm is also on the verge of bankruptcy. For some reason cat is the only one getting talked about though.

Nailed it, when the majority figure out that they have been brainwashed with brand loyalty they will also figure out how bad they have been fuked. One word, SHEEP,

People want stupid **** and have sacrificed everything that these companies at one time stood for that made them famous and able to survive when so many others failed.

The phrase flickable was like the death sentence. Thank you Poo , this comes from a guy that purchased his first sled , a new sled in 1976 a 74 340SS Colt. You know when men didn't wear helmets or have GPS and ride in sub zero temps.

This new technology is disposable and as a consumer most begged for it.

There's a price to pay for stupidity and whe are at that stage, the economy is chit.

I'm just one of those guys that's been riding since the 70''s

Pisses me off yet there will be the sheep that will go down in flames crying about warranty.

I think the 30% Doo layed off were just the illegal immigrants that they were paying under the minimum wage. But no one wants to talk about that. Nothing to see hear lets just keep bashing Cat and keep posting the same broke down sled in different threads.

Yup, I haven’t even had a chance to ride my 858 yet and have buddies that are not cat guys telling me they’re all junk with bad cranks cuz they’ve seen a couple locked up on social media posted over and over again. Just like how the monorail became “junk” in 2019 when the same couple broken rail pictures got posted over and over again. Yet, their beloved Polaris’s have been blowing up consistently since the 800 twin was introduced in 2001 and not a peep, or if a blown up poo or doo does get posted it’s always “operator error” or some other kind of excuse but never the brands fault like it is any time any sort of issue gets posted about a cat.
