Arctic Cat in Trouble

Textron bought Cat for $247m; no idea how much of a bath they're likely to take, but I assume they're losing something. Next, maybe Textron sells the ATV/side-by elements separately. That might be what they'll get the most money out of anyway. $100m might not be enough for the whole outfit, but the number for just the snowmobile division is probably much lower. I'd buy some stock; let's do this! Let's lowball them (like $10m) and see what happens. Hey @christopher, I got an idea to grow Snowest bigly!

Does the Argo do a decent job towing it, or is it just slow and thirsty?
Mudd Ox, a bigger version of an Argo, there's kind of a relationship that this came from. 45 Kubota Diesel with hydro pumps are mounted to a bell housing on the engine and the drives framed in the tub dual roller chains still connect the axles. This one probably weighs close to 3000#s, ROPS/cab is an original.
Maintenance is required, drive it, service it :)

Not familiar with the Mudd Ox. Used to work for a contractor that had a 6 wheel buggy that was miserable at everything. I stopped by a local Argo dealer one day to check them out as we had heard they were the Cadillac buggy at the time. The sales guy referred to the one we used as the "Walk-back", as in you didn't take it any further than you wanted to walk back. I think he was on to something with that phrase.
Since yours is hydraulically driven, can you add valves to it? lift cylinders on a plow or drag use?

You'll all end up pulling something.

What a terrible investment opportunity.

Failed business, bleeding cash, sitting on mass inventory with super low demand.

It's a niche manufacturer that has always chased the smallest portion of the market by being "unique"

There are still bnany new videos of them and no one says anything about them going tits up. Even Sykes who are cat nut huggers say absolutely nothing about them buying. It’s a margin loss not a literal loss correct? So to say it’s a loser is a perspective. Word on the street is the others are way down too? I tell ya what they all need…snow!

One thing that I've learned over the past 45+ years of snowmobiling is that 160-170 HP seems to be the sweet spot for most riders, or at least it is for me. Not being critical of turbos and they certainly have a real advantage at 10,000 feet. But for me, I have no interest in a turbo sled because of how and where I ride. Since I typically wouldn't be using the additional power from a turbo sled, it just doesn't make sense for me due to the additional cost.
Hahaha whatever you want to tell yourself, your 170hp at 10k is 119 hp with out boost. Show me the additional cost of a turbo sled? You paid over $20k for na 858, I can buy a new boosted sled for less then that. If cat had a turbo sled most of the I don't need a turbo guys would be riding it. I have 2 9r's and a boost in the trailer, unless the snow is hard I'll ride take the boost just addicted to the power.

You could add accessories like that, it would be better with a suspension skid. That would price this unit somewhere between a top of the line Argo and a Piston Bully 🤑

I've rode boosted sleds off and on for 25 years and every one cost more than an na. I don't know anyone that paid over 20k for an 858. I think you're cherry picking prices. My 24 9r was 22850 for the full baked potato. I think the basic 858 started at 15700msrp. There are a lot more people who won't pay for boost vs will is my bet. If i only had one sled it would have boost. I will not boost a 858 if it is a dead end road.

Yeah that's the key difference, I've never ridden at 10K in my life. Got close a couple of times at about 9400', but those times are few and far between and only for a brief moment.
Most of my riding is 3k-6500' where the horsepower loss due to elevation is not as severe. If I lived where you unloaded at 6K-7K and went up from there, then I probably would consider a boost.

think I head Polaris profit was down 70% and BRP profits down 30 ish % doesn't say much about numbers but it's for sure not a good thing when profits are down and consumers think prices are to high.. where do you up profits in that situation

It blows me away how execs don't 'get it'. During the chinah flu buying frenzy many companies were scrambling trying to acquire more building capacity while uneducated guys like myself were watching and saying "Your expansion should be complete just in time to lay people off". We didn't need a crystal ball to see it coming, yet damn near every manufacturer were guilty of that same sin.
How could these highly educated fuchtards not see how this movie would end?

And BTW, I didn't win the MegaMillions so I am withdrawing my intentions to raise this Phoenix from it's ashes. Sorry guys.

Typical rumor, but I heard a couple of days ago Bobcat was looking at the facilities and manufacturing to build their equipment in. Didn’t even want “Arctic Cat.”

Tool for the right application, worthless when the conditions are not in favor.

Seriously been wondering why I don't pick up a current ditch banger over making road trips to get to snow.
The exact reason I converted my 155 to a 146. Looked at where I was riding and new the 155 was overkill. The last outwest trip I took I rode someones snowbike and didn't even bring my sled.
