T

Well-known member
just wondering if anyone is using this clutch kit in the mountains or flat ground and having any good luck with it?

thanks

member donoBBD talked about using it and liking it. i think he is in south east ontario. havent saw him on here in a while. he was a great source of clutching info on the crossfires and M series. ski

installed on my 09 M8 on saturday morning and went riding 0-3000' and it flat out rock's!

insane throttle response really great kit. i am more then happy with it.

also crazy backshift!

the sled is always in its power no matter what the throttle position is its always ready to be hammered on with zero lag or wait.

again i am very impressed and wish i spent the money 2 years ago

troy, i think i talked to you on a different forum about this setup. you had purchased it, but didnt get a chance to run it yet... what kind of riding do you do with your M8?

i love to boondock.

it work's great for that.

wait it work's great for everything i done this past weekend.

i am just wondering how this kit isn't more popular

how does the reverse work?

did you climb any steep hills/mountains? how was the performance?

have you tried any other brand of aftermarket secondary setup? (like the RK TEK kit?)

i also see that there is no adjustability with this setup like there is with the RK TEK kit. do you think there is a need be able to adjust the spring tension?

Can someone please add a link to the product your are talking about? It sounds good but, I haven't seen or heard about it before.

i emailed this company and this is the response i got...

Thanks for the inquiry.
I personally have not tested our setup in the mountains. I do have a
few customers that run them in the mountains and have liked the
performance.
I believe our setup would shine in the mountains and here's why. You
want as much track horsepower as you can get. We had a shop dyno test
our setup and found that it produced 2 track horsepower more over a
really good clutch setup.
You want a very quick off/on throttle response. Our setup has a
instant throttle response. Belt life should improve along with
decreased belt and clutch temperatures.

i have a new more questions....

you say this.... The X-1 will work with nearly all stock Arctic Cat, Polaris and Comet weights. In most cases, the X-1 can be dialed in to work with your existing set-up. We have found some of the aggressive drive clutch weights will not work with the X-1 set-up. .............................what exactly do you mean by agressive clutch weights? i have a set of cutlers adjustable weights in my primary for easy of tuning when bouncing between montana, wyoming, and back home to the low elevation of north dakota. what are your thoughts on these weights?

what helix angles do you have available?

i have an 09 M8 with electronic reverse. will my reverse still work?

does your kit allow "on the trail" adjustability to fine tune spring rate?

By aggressive weights we mean weights that have a smaller radius or
one that the end is tipped down. There are many different manufactures
and weight designs, If we didn't spell out what to use for weights,
the results may not be desirable. I know what some of the weights are,
profile wise, but there are so many designs to keep up with. We have
gone so far in trying to determine what the profile of weights are
that we made our own gages to measure them. I do not know what the
profile is of the Cutler Weight is in relationship to a stock weight.
I would try to compare them to a stock weight to see if there are
different than stock weights.

We only have one spring and helix profile (other than the engine

reverse notched helix). Believe it or not, we use the same helix from
a 570 fan up to a mod 1000. Some of the 600's require a lighter
secondary spring.

Yes your reverse will work with our reverse notch helix.

There is no adjustment provided with our standard kit, however I have

had the thought of adding adjustment screws to the end cap so it would
allow an quick and easy way to adjust spring tension. There may not be
enough room between the end cap and the side cover for the screws to
clear. You could use spacers to increase the pressure, but you should
not have to.

I will tell you from running mels kit for two seasons that the steeper you climb the better the back shift. It is instant on and off the throttle. This is on a ported and pipe m1000 162. I found better performance with mel and mds weights, one spacer in secondary clutch as it was a little lasy on the flats.

reverse work's every time.

i climbed some moderate hill's in bottomless powder and it worked very very well

i myself have never ran anything like rk tek but i have tried them and it has no comparison to the formula x-1.

i am running cutler adjustable's and had no problem's with it

Is there any indication of what degree the helix is? I don't like the fact that there is only one helix angle available. Mel at "formula" told me he runs the same helix on all sleds from a 500 up to the 1000 (firecat, xfire, or M....it doesn't matter)

with his secondary spring i don't think it matter's so much about helix angle.

this kit work's.

do some research and you will not find 1 bad review. everyone who run's it has nothing but good to say about it.

So your running MSD weights and the X-1 secondary set up
