anyone trying to give up smoking ?

Just shy of 3 months and still doing good ... already hate the smell of cigs on people right after they finish smoking but the fresh smoke still smells good; that may never go away.

I don't think it ever does...:face-icon-small-sad

Eventually you can drink :beer; and not care for sigs. That was and is the most strugling, and working in the shop, and driving... and crap... So easy to get back into the thoughts.

Ruffy:
If you guys quit smoking who will replace the tax money the Gov is collecting. They will probably go after us. Keep buying the packs even though you don't smoke them.

actually the smoke that smells good to you will go away. about the time you start noticing you don`t have near as much craving for the cigs , and that taste in you mouth when you get the feel for one will start dwendling, some people will start eatin alot more and everything tastes so good especially sweets you like, I am 40 and have never been over 135 lbs but in the last year of the 2 years I have been quit I am up to 148 lbs and trying to eat better to prevent any more increase.. Good Luck. Darren

congrats man, how your smell of everthing about now? that hit me and I noticed it around the 3 month mark, at least for me when I could smell people smoking a few cars ahead of me stopped in traffic, you can really pick up there smoke as it drifts back in traffic.

quit over 2 yrs ago cold turkey, man that was hard, just thinking of it makes me
shake, Lol

Good Luck.

I highly recomend Champix, and once you quit, QUIT... Nicotine is very addictive even a small dose can suck you back in.

15th will be 1 year without a puff.

Champix made it very easy.

Yup ... can smell that smoke a mile away it seems ... even on the bike clipping at 70 mph  Pretty freaky but all the more reason to pass them and move on. Congrats on quitting.

Chantix ??? I used the patch for a week and called it good. It was still cheaper than the carton of smokes I would have bought for the same week. The sin taxes in WA are INSANE!

Regardless, good job quitting a foul habit Pinner.

Champix? Is that a medication? My dad was trying to take something like that either Champix or Chantix can`t remember, but if its the same stuff it gave him bad scary dreams and felt very depressed and lazy and started behaving weird.

Probably not the same , but if you can pull it off with no meds, you`ll feel better while trying to quit, My dad later went to commits but you can get dependant on those, he unfortunetaly can`t seem to pull it off, cause all of his wifes family won`t stop smoking around him ,A$%&^@s. I pulled if off easier cause I was fortunate enough that I didn`t smoke in our home and none of my wifes family smokes, that helps.

If this isn`t the same stuff I apologize, but be cautious.

Good Luck, Darren

Same stuff, different name, country... No side effects, it was great help.

P.S. I only took it for about a week after I quit.

I never smoked and can't see why people start, but my wife has smoked for 20 years. She is 2 months smoke free now. You really have to want it for yourself or you have no chance. I have tried to get her to stop for years to no avail. She wanted to stop this time and it has still been difficult. I am very proud of her effort over the last 2 months.

It has been one year and a couple of days. dang!!! I think I am finally over the hump. Temptation is always there though, but I am stronger than it.

Good stuff!!

Congrats!!! I am approaching my two year mark in a few weeks! I can honestly say that the temptation went away after a few months.

Thanksgiving will be 2yrs for me, like I posted once before the bad cravings lasted about 3 weeks for me,

And also like skibreeze said you really have to want it, I guess I had enough and decided to quit, right down to it if you really want to quit, YOU CAN
also helps if you don`t have alot of people smoking around you, my everybody smokes around my Dad and the ones around him don`t care to quit so unfortuneltly he probably won`t either.

Good Luck. Wildcard28

It has been 3 years, 1 month, and 4 days for me. I really don't miss them much anymore except after a good meal. Man, there is nothing as satisfying as having a smoke after a good meal. There is no doubt in my mind that I could light one up today, and it would be like I never quit...........the damn things are addictive, that's for sure.
