anyone trying to give up smoking ?

There is no doubt in my mind that I could light one up today, and it would be like I never quit...........the damn things are addictive, that's for sure.
You got that right. It is interesting how things get a hold of us like that.

Funny I found this thread, I just quit 46 hours ago, I am on the patch, seems to be working great so far. I always tried cold turkey before and never had success. First couple nights have been miserable, nightmares (I never remember what I dream about usually) and waking up in cold sweats, but the first night was by far the worst, here is hoping tonight will get better, and the next day even better, I think the first 72 hours is the hardest.

46hrs seems like a long time now, but soon it will be 46days. Hang in there and Good Luck!!! Hard Candy`s like the cinnamon ones helps, such on one when you get the craving or at least it did for me.

When I quit I was a bear that would snap at the smallest things. Girlfriend made me start smoking again because anxiety was making me a bear. Went to a Science and Nutrition here in town and asked about some natural stuff to help. I take a daily vitamin pack and he recommended take 3 1000-1200mg of Omega 3 (fish oil) to help with anxiety and 2 green tea pills to keep from gaining weight. Told me to take the stuff a week in advance to load my system up before I quit. I followed his advice and I have virtually no anxiety and have not gained a pound. For the most part I slept like a baby and if I couldn't sleep I would simply pop a Melatonin and it would help my mind from racing and let me goto sleep. That only happened once. It was a little spendy buying the stuff from Science and Nutrition and found that Wallgreens sells about 2 times as much product for the same price. And even better, they had a sale 2 for 1, I loaded up with about 4 months worth of Vitamin packs, Omega 3 and Green tea for $80. The fish oil does not make you smell like fish but for some reason the cat seems to want more lap time.

I packed it in yesterday afternoon. So far, so good. I do have some of that Thrive nicotine gum around and had to have one when I got home from work. I really think my biggest problem will be when I crack that first beer and want to light one up.

switch to mixed drinks. It might help. Also, don't get drunk around drunk smokers... That is my weakness. Been about 1 year and 1 month. It gets hard in certain situations, but just remember how hard you are working at it.

Well, tommorrow afternoon will be 1 week. I passed the drunk test last night. Got all boozed up and had people smoking around me and I made it through. That's what I was worried about the most.

I can't believe how good I feel. It's amazing how something like nicotine can suck you into continually feeling like crap.

The nightmares are from wearing the patch to bed. I'm assuming you didn't smoke while you slept, so you shouldn't wear the patch while you sleep:beer;
