And its the typical liberal mindset that there must be goverment handouts everywhere and goverment oversight in every aspect of business and peoples lives.. We obviously view this different but I feel THAT is the very reason we have the problems we have in this country.

as a matter of fact I do, I just chose to give to organizations that have a little better track record than our federal govt at getting the most dollars to the people in need.
Where again is that section in the constitution that calls for federal funding of poor people throughout the world.... great, it makes them feel better to help, and we should, but there are organizations already in place for that type of help.

I agree there are plenty of people who use the system to get back on there feet, or through a tough time........ but you would also have to agree that there are way too many lazy, drug addicted sloths that use the system to stay that way.
1 is too many.....Again, our govt has proven itself to be very poor at overseeing entitlement programs.
The majority of people on welfare/unemployment need it and are justified in using it. There are and always will be those who abuse it.
It is like saying we should ban guns because of the guy that shoots up his school or workplace. There will always be abuse. The majority of gun owners are law abiding citizens. Because a few chose to abuse them, don't take them away from everyone.
i agrree that too many people do abuse it, and we need to make a step forward to stop that. But there will always be some abuses, you dont ban sleds cause one group decided to ride in an illegal area.
It just pisses me off when people say they dont want to give any money to drugged out crack whores, cause it generalizes populations that live in ghettos as that. I know many people on welfare who justify it and are good, hard working people.

It is not even close to the same thing and again I take issue with your liberal mindset. You libs are very crafty at taking an issue and trying to make a comparison by tugging at heartfelt emotions that make people feel all warm and fuzzy and forget about the real issue.
you can't compare welfare,(which is not constitutionally mandated) and gun ownership, (which is protected under our constitution)
Would you rather libs use fear and scare tactics instead? Oh, there is already a group that takes that approach....

Actually, you would be wrong.
My comment dealt with giving aid to other countries, that then demand we give them more because they think we should.
As for welfare, it's a great safety net. I have zero problem with it, except for those that use it and never even try to get a job.
The difference is that with welfare we are helping our own people where as Obama wants to give it to other countries so they can hate us more for not giving what THEY think we should.
Imagine what we could do for our schools and infrastruture with the 850 billion we give to countries that hate us.

no, welfare doesnt just give you a free ride, its more like a helping hand (at least to my friends who use it).
Say a death or injury in the family takes a big chunk out of income, welfare is there to help gets things going again and back on pace...

Didn't they put a limit on how long you can stay on welfare just because of the people that were living on it as a sole source of income.
now, back to Obama.
i can't see myself ever voting for him.
Not because he is black, it's because he is a SUPER liberal.
He seems to feel that it is our job (as a country) to feed, cloth and pay the rest of the world. I think he wants to penalize this country for doing as well as we are.
It's kind of sad and EXTREMELY scary.
The thought of that man getting elected scares the chit outta me.
I would take Billary over him.
People abuse welfare
Welfare is a good thing if people get the help and get back on their feet. I just hate it when they make a life style out of it. For a lot of people it is a way of life for generations. There should be a time limit on how long you can get it and then have it reduced every year until they have to get a JOB!
