anyone else NOT finding the truck they want?

New car production when from roughly 17 million to 10 million. People got so afraid when the economy turned and they stop buying cars. So the people who used to trade every couple years are now keeping them and putting longer harder miles on them. Rental companies are cutting their fleets in half and keeping them twice as long putting twice the mileage on them. Gas dropped and now it's next to impossible to find good used trucks and SUV's, at the auctions they are going for retail and the jump happened so fast the consumer thinks their being ripped off!

I live in Montana, and trying to find a used Duramax New Body was almost impossible, If there was one at a good price it was gone instantly, and if they have it over a day you have to wonder what is wrong with it. It sucks a big one, but with Craigslist i finally found the truck i wanted. It was on C.L. for only 4 hours.

The same when i sold my old pickup. I parked it on the street by walmart it sat for 4 hours and gone, with people standing in line.

And since im on the subject (I have been a member on this site for a while) But the people on this site can be such Primadonas. They dont want to give anyone anything for what they have, but what they have is the best and worth the most.

But that is just my own 2 cents

have a good day and good luch searching

I am also having a hard time finding a truck for a reasonable price, I'm not paying $20k for a truck that is half plastic, On top of that I want a man's truck I'm tired of seeing these pantie waist trucks year after year, every year is worse than the year before. What happened to the days of all metal trucks and bench seats? What's with these caddy trucks, if you want a luxury ride drive a caddy, the metro sexual men need to leave trucks to the men. (sorry I'm venting) I just think that a truck should be all metal, a descent ride height, straight Axel, in my opinion a manual tranny behind a diesel but each to their own. sooner or later we will all find our rides.

And thats different than any other site?

Ive been looking for a long time now. Just cant decide what to do.
09 Gmc/chevys (new) i can get into for 45K
08 used (under 36k miles) i can get into for 38k
07 used (under 50k miles) seem to run around 34k
06 used (under 70k) are impossible to find and run 30k...

so now im back to looking at 03/04 trucks (100k miles) in the 17-19k range

and yes i am super strict on what i want (color/interior/condition)

i havnt had much of a problem finding one but i have had some probs selling mine! kinda hard to sell when its a 95 with 205k on it :( . i have been looking for a cummins but people want rediculous amounts of money for them! found a 97 with 140k 5sp. 4" lift new tires etc and they wanted 9900! also found a nice 01 cummins sport with 97k on it and they wanted 13,500.

Those prices seem a little steep. Even for this market. What exactly are you looking for?

yeah i looked for over a year to find the truck i wanted and never did. the one that i found met almost all the criteria. i was looking for a 3/4 ton diesel, long box, x cab or crew cab with a stick and low miles. i had to give up the long box and the stick but it had lower miles than i expected. i got a 2002 dodge 2500 cummins with 32,000 miles for $17,000. maybe a little on the high side but its a great truck so far.

The allison tranny behind my 8.1l is the first auto I've ever owned. Happy with it, but I won't ever get rid of my 93, besides who is gonna buy a truck with 315k on it? It's getting a new motor to replace the factory one and it'll be good to go for a long time after.

A short box it outta the question for this guy. Just won't work for what I need a truck for.

SSH that's a good idea. Didn't even think about that.

And my favorite color they pretty much went away from:(

you guys should call your credit unions and ask abou repos. I scored a 05' d-max lt cc 4x4 for 20g's in near mint condition and it's not red or white.....lol

what? they make a dmax thats not white? i call BS!!!
so sick of every truck i find being white!

gmc

same here, i am beginning to think what i want dosnt exist. new style, gmc, duramax, crew, short, white, moon roof, bench seats. the rest dosnt matter

Oh I found a good one and a pretty good deal but I messed around just long enough and they sold it! Saved $31,000!:D

white 07 5.9 3500 dually mega auto slt... perfect with only 12,000 miles...
(well not perfect as I want a stick and leather...so I continue the hunt...as that is the most fun anyways)

The news related to the automakers is all about fuel efficiency and hybrids.... doesn't really go hand in hand with what we want so the demand for what's out there on the truck market is going up. Not to mention all the problems related to the emissions crap on 07 and newer trucks.

There still seems to be a good selection of used to pick from on most of the lots here in SD though.
over priced here in aberdeen. 3 months ago they had 2006 duramax's on the lot for 19 to 22k now you cant find one under 26k
