Any Truck Drivers on here?

middle two were a Hitachi 800 or 1200 and a Kamotsu 600 right?
How big is that Cat Hoe??? or is that a tree processor???
ya man, the Hitachi is a 700, the loader is a Dresser, can't remember the model number. the last is a 345 Cat log loader. when the cab is flipped up, you sit about 30 feet or so off the ground. fun to load, sometimes ends up like this....

ps thats a 1100 hun Hitatchi if I ever did see one .....with the counter weight still on board

good eye, loaded over the front and ran it right to the back of the trailer to pick it up. hooked up the neck, picked it up fine. went to spin the house around and walk it back to the front and the weight imbalance with no boom and counterweights on caused the trailer to lean, and off she went. the tracks slide in to make the machine narrower for transport, the mill decided that was too much work. I drove 3 hrs up there, told 'em it wasn't right. they cried, I tried, turns out I was right....they bought me a room, retracted the drives, went back and loaded 'er up the next day....gotta love truckin'
this is how much was on the trailer in wide mode....retarded

Im going to school in november to get my class A cdl. just curious on what I have to look forward too. Im 20 so I know insurance mey be a issue and of course no out of state driving. Im trying to get ideas on what Id like to drive, I dont want to be a long haul driver but more like a 8-12 hr day and home every night. My goal is to get in with a dump truck company or possibly a delivery company like pepsi or ect. Any day cab driving job would be ideal.

I drive Roll Off , Front End Loader and even Residential p/u for Waste Management.
The moneys ok and im home every nite and weekends off unless I want some OT.
:beer;

what kind of heavy hauling? just curious....been pulling wheeler combos for more than 20 years here in AB, drilling rigs and equipment mostly.

Trail King steerable 13 axle, Cozad steerable 11, couple TK 11's, a whole bunch of 7 axle RGN's (lowboy as some folks call them). KW T800's triple and twin screws. Just took delivery of two new Pete's with the big tag and front. Beam and dolly for the big stuff.

4z will send you a PM. Thanks!

Ive always been intrested in heavy hauling but I though that was for sure impossibile for a young one fresh out of school. Im not a long haul type of guy, I wouldnt mind it once in a while but here in WA there are several big dump truck/excavating companies that I know pay between $25-$35 an hr which to me doeasnt seem to shabby. I read up on UPS and thats also a possibility, they have day delivery drivers that haul to buisnesses with a 28' trailer, that would be perfect. thought about waste managment or similar job such as that, doesnt sound too bad?

get in with a construction company and start dump truckin or something , most guys that haul the heavy stuff or trains have been at it for quite awhile...think that you need to get some seat time just my thoughts

PS if you are gonna heavy haul you best be able run every piece of equipment that you gonna move ...soo no better place than a road construction outfit..

I started pretty young running big yellow stuff, basicaly been thru the whole shooting match before I decided to go out on my own

Snowmobile Kid. Once you have your licence in hand I'm sure your instructor or the school will have contact information for job placement. I don't know your background but I was born and raised with diesel in my veins. I started small driving body jobs for my dad in the oil patch then bought my own. I've done and seen alot in my 23 years as a PROFESSIONAL driver/owner op. There is alot of that lacking out there...Professionals. It is a way of life that can be very demanding but also rewarding. All I can stress is start small and find what you like, then put your heart into it. Always ask if you don't know(a dumb question is one not asked) and pay attention. Learn from your mistakes and don't take on more than you can handle. If I could turn back the clock to 20 again...I wouldn't change a thing. So good luck in your future and the path you take. Here's a few pics of my truck. It's a 2000 KW 900B with a 550 cat,18 speed, 46000# rear ends with 391 gear ratio and 4-way lock ups for when the tuff gets going :beer;

This heavy hauling runs the range of yellow iron but also 500,000 lb transformers, 120' vessels. Large strange lumps. Kinda niche stuff. If you have the right "building blocks" we will OJT over time. Not all guys are meant for this, driving is just part of it. Understanding CG and safety factors etc. Rigging and specialized transportation. Very rewarding, I left UPS after 13 years of service to take part in the adrenaline rush. ;)
So, make a resume, email it to me and I will get it in front of the right person regardless of your school progress. No guarantees and you have nothing to lose.

can't remember the last time i went from the first post to the last post reading everything , i've been truck'n here in b.c. for 16 years , lowbeded for 11 of them , i have lots of cool pic's , loaded everthing yellow green or orange just can't load pic's on here ,, go figure !
