another school shooting northern illinois univ

today at 3 some wack job shot 18 people ansd then killed him self
in dekalb illinois

man thats close to home 20 miles from where iam at now but i use to live
in town

SD legislture just turned dow a bill that would have allowed honest, permit carrying students to carry a weapon. IF someone had been armed maybe the nut job would have gotten capped before he shot 18 students.

i spent many a day in that very lecture hall that this happened in... believe me when i tell ya, it is NOT the first shooting on that campus... there have been at least TWO prior to this one... both in the dorms though, one instigated by an off-duty chicago cop

Ive been wamting to ask the question, "do you think teachers should have the option of CCW?" Students at college? Humm, Id have to think about that, a lot. But even the idea that some teachers are not liberal whacks and are packing might stop some of this.....So sad.

Ive spent some time thinking about what might be the causes of this sort of shooting. IHO I think a lot of it has to do with games/entertainment these days. Call me crazy but movies like SAW and Hostile have pushed things to a whole new level in gruesome. Do I play a few first person shooter games like Halo sure do,but I also grew up hunting and know that when you really shoot something its dead. Maybe they just didn't get enough hugs as kids or something. I dunno, but it is sad to see, I am hitting that age that a lot of people are married and are starting families and this kinda of thing makes worried about having kids and having them grow up in the society that the us is turning into.

Much blame can be placed on games but much more can be placed ob the media and the way they portray "the poor confused shooter with family or school problems". If they came right out and called them fawked up little idiots, far fewer would think shooting up a school is cool.
So guns be allowed on school grounds?

The man who killed five people and wounded 16 others at Northern Illinois University in a suicidal rampage

Never would have happened when I was a kid. News would have read: killed 21, cuz my generation are way better marksmen.

Ya had to be with those flint locks;)

I think if you have a gone through the rite programs and are licensed to carry it should a person should be able to carry on campus. I would.

I think it's a case of not spanking your kids and preparing them for social interaction by letting them hole up and play video games. Kids these days are quick to move to a gun and are afraid of an azz whoppin. I think if you got your kids away from the computer and video games and let them play outside with their firends growing up you would have a kid that can handle social rejection a bit more and not want to go "Quake" on everyone that pizzed them off. And if that kid got spanked as a kid maybe they coudl handle a little scoff from an azzhole!

The only common thread I've heard in these shootings is the shooters recent failure to continue taking a prescription psycotropic drug.
I guess the new slogan might be "guns don't kill people, perscription drugs kill people.:( A terrible waste whatever the cause.

A part of me says that if these people grew up around guns, they wouldn't do it. I've been shooting since I was six, been on trap teams and shoot the .22's about every day after school, and I know what the consequences are and I know MY responsibilites as a shooter. Its too bad these people won't just kill themselves, they have to take others with them. Like there life is so tough! They conplain that mom didn't love me when we have fine men and women getting shot at and there risking lives over sea's so that you can kill the people they fight and die to protect? I'll tell you one thing, when I turn 21, my CWP is the first thing I do, because if something like that goes down around me, they better kill me first because I WILL be returning fire!
