another ride, another belt...

Gear down from a 23 to a 19 on the 46 and add a gram to a gram and 1/2 you will have to shave a link...this is working!

Should be a dealer warranty fix!!!!!\

Helisledder

you would think... Its a 146" so i dont think it comes with the 23 does it? sled is going in monday to get new clutching, cause this is a joke...

linc the only 4 strokes i roll is on the dirt! maybe someday!

Hi Phatty, 3 rides and no ploblems here (3 sleds) knock on wood!!!
4th ride tomorrow, Woodland, I dont think the 163's are having as
many problems as others, gearing I think. Hope your changes fix
your belt eating problem.:beer;

The longer track should be harder on belts but the lower gear must more than make up for it. 0 miles on my 163 so far buy will be riding 5 days straight next week and hoping for the best. Has anybody mentioned track tension on any of the belt threads? Was wondering if too tight of track is causing any of the problems?

YA, you only need to buy a turbo

The idea is to ride,,,not sit at the bottom ,,wait for the clutches to cool and give your belts a *****'n bubble bath.This is all starting to sound like that Chinese sh!t that is showing up at Canadian Tire,give your head a shake, you paid 14k for a sled you can't do more than three pulls at a hill without costing three hundred dollars a ride.

The Nytro might not make the high mark,but at least you can ride the damn thing.I can make it more powerful,,,the SD can't be made more reliable without a bottle of Palmolive and a packsack full of $160 belts.HHmmm maybe there were some short cuts made to it the lightest sled on the market and to take your hard earned cash.

Linc, you are both right and wrong. Only a few have learned yet. Sled is fine (does need a little tweaking - clutch needs cleaning once but not continuosly), its the belts that are the problem IMO. I have never run SD belts, I never will (and I own a SD). All my mod sleds get an aftermarket belt from a company that only makes belts, not from SD that ordered up 350,000 of them for the cheapest price made from the lowest quality materials - can you say "Maximizing profit?" A few guys around here running the Dayco XS's are holding up fine.

Belt is the weak link IMO. Slippage is causing excessive heat which fuggs the belt, which causes more slippage, which fuggs the belt further, its a vicious circle till the belts goes BOOM. Add more weight to the orimary clutch and get a different belt IMO, I think the compound they made the belts from is terrible, but why does SD care? they aren't going to do anything about it so long as people keep buying a $150 belt every 50-70 miles in order to be able to ride. Return it to the dealer and ask for a refund on the belts and take your money elsewhere. If BRP won't fix the issue, why do guys keep returning to spend money there and then coming on here and *****ing about it? I do agree that the lightest sled came with certain bugs that were not worked out prior to delivery....

I haven't used a Doo belt for six years and have never had one fail---maybe those Chinese belts have too much lead in them? Doesn't lead act as a lubricant when it heats up? DUH:rolleyes:

You could be right about the belts,,,I believe it's an engine issue,,,I think the engine makes a harmonic vibration that damages the clutch and creates heat in the belt,which also accounts for some of the engine failures last year. I think you'll see that engine scrapped in favor of a new one by next year.:mad:

Soft belts,,,yup I can see that,,,Yamaha had an issue with their belts back in 97 with the MM700,Yamaha changed the belt design with one we run now and it easily handles 300 hp.Too bad you couldn't run that belt,,,,would be an interesting test.:)

Something almost constructive, from Linc?

Couldn't believe your last post. Instead of wasteing skin off your typing finger & saying Na Na Na Na Na, like 3 yr old. You actually contributed something???

I asked this before but nobody really said anythig, I have a 146X and the thing seem to put my feet to sleep with the way it vibrates. Anybody else have this problem? Alot more vibe than my previous Rev.

in my opinion your vents are helping ALOT! i have got to get some on. Have you changed your clutching at all? Were heading to a super extreme area today and i am guessing were going to blow 1 more belt, possible 2 as we will have 2 xps with us... but that should all change by next weekend...

I pounded my 154X for another 50 miles yesterday, with 20 minutes of non-stop climbing. Belt is perfect. I did vent the side panel myself, so maybe that's the difference:beer;
