Another 900 Build...SURE WHY NOT!!

mmmmm Corral.....

I sure hope you don't end up anywhere near Balad. The chow halls around here have taken a steep dowhill plunge. You may find yourself eating the worst stuff just because everything is sooo horrible. KBR got their contract pulled and the new company is cutting costs on everything food related. I've even heard a rumor from some reliable sources that they are considering going back to Sea-rations and Field kitchens to save money.

^^^OH M AN really...i was in Balad Air Base last time i was deployed...in 2008, the chow hall was the HIZZY...i hat esome good eats for sure...but was also lifting weights 2x a day, so i was smashing only certain foods too, lol...

thats too bad, guys go over there to fight for whats right, risk their lives every day, and we cant even get them decent meals...but then again, we do have it a million times better then our past heros in the day that had it much worse then we do...

only time will tell...you can porobably thank our new "leader" for most of it :argue:

Every time I think I have everything on mine covered you guys inform me of something else I need to check and replace. By my calculations mine will be ready to go by December 2011.:face-icon-small-ton

You'll be ready before Sean then!
Sean...... ONE SLED AT A TIME NEXT YEAR?!:face-icon-small-hap

ok, got some good progress done on the sled the last few days...but also had some MAJOR ISSUES!!

issuses first..

1. the fox zero pro shocks i bought were suppose to be 17" in length, will they are 18"...i bought them in june or so..and never checked them, and ieven powder coated the springs orange...and now i cant use them...UGH!!!!!

so i had to use the stock ryde fx shocks (of coarse i have orange springs for them, lol) in the meantime until i figure out WTF i am gonna do now for shocks..

2. the U-Cooler hits the rivots i installed on the rear of the VE tunnel so i had to drill them out and the only way i can get clearence for the cooler is to use the actual solid rivots that VE uses on the entire tunnel, and they are $$ for them and the tools to install them.

3. need to get $$ to send my clutch to indydan for a balance and shim still.

4. apparently Polaris has 2 different size 09-up front sway bars...the plastic bushings that hold the arm to the bulkead are too big (or the bar is too small) i have another sway bar as a spare and its BIGGER then the one i have on there now...the issue is i already powder coated this one orange, so i either have to get smaller bushings or powder coat the other sway bar now.

Now for the parts i installed recently...

1. got the Ice Age rails installed in the Skid. LOVE the way it turned out...installed the skid.

2. took the zbroz 40" a-arms off my 05 900 (the 05 will get the Red 41" a-arms off the wifes sled and she will get the 09 stock RMK arms) ;)

3. installed the 09 sway bar and zbroz sway bar bracket on the a-arms

4. installed some stiffer rate fox zero pro springs on the stock shocks (same length as the stocker springs, so thats NICE, considering i have to use these stupid shocks now)

5. installed the holz spindles i powder coated.

6. installed the gripper skis with the orange loops.

7. installed the tie-rods i did orange as well, need to install the tie-rod boots still.

8. dont have access to the FNI intake i am suppose to get until AFTER xmas, so in the meantime i have to use the homemade Timbersled style intake i made.

9. powder coated the billet pull handle orange...WHY no, lol...

10. need to get the EGT gauge bracket from TurboBoyz still! so i can mount the Digatron Dual EGTS...wires are just hanging there.

but the MOST imporantant thing....its FINALLY ON THE GROUND...this sled has not touched the ground on its on, since....MARCH!!

I went to Oman in the first goat rope (1990) and we lived in a hangar with rows of cots and no air conditioning until we got our tent's up. We ate MRE's for almost a month and gained about 30 pounds each because there was nothing else to do except eat. Three MRE's a day is a bad thing. We found out later we should only be eating one or two a day ate the most. Then we moved to Al's Garage and got a gym and an actual chow hall. That was great for about a month then the menu started repeating itself. It sucked. Can't wait till you get home. Thanks for doing your time. It is very much appreciated that you are serving our country with honor.

Sean the sled looks great. The rails are sweet!

Yeah I know how the MREs go, I lived on 90% MREs for about 7 months last deployment and my stomach hasn't been the same since.

I should've been a week away from leaving here but its not looking good. Long story short I am getting all the information I need right now to get in touch with my Congressman hopefully no later than monday. Heads will be rolling in all directions and for good reason.

Edit: And thank you for all the support everyone! It is very much appreciated!

It took me two weeks to get back from there the first time I went. Kind of like doing the Amazing Race to get back home. I had my orders but there was no transportation going back to the states. Once you get your orders you can hop your way back. I've done it from Italy before too. Just got to have those papers!!!

Dang, that looks amazing! Really, really impressive. Job well done for sure. By the way, the KTM in the background of one of the pics looks pretty sweet too.

About the Zero Pro's, can't you get them shortened? I have heard of guys sending their shocks in to get that done? Not sure maybe it's not an option with all shocks.

WOW, that looks awesome Sean.
(pst, have you added all the bills yet? does your wife know where you keep them???)

I hope to see it in Revy in March.

FBF.

Thanks Claude, appreciate the comments very much...i dont know exactly what it cost, but lucky for me, i had alot of parts on hand from last year and did AAALLLLOOTTT of trading this year and sold all the stock parts from the sled to fund it all, i am still out of pocket of coarse, but not near as much as you would think ;)

yeh i know you can do that, but i cant imagine it being very cheap, and i just dont have the time and money to do it right now...and the guy i got the shocks from wont help me out :face-icon-small-fro

Got some work in yesterday..

got the skinz mesh hood mounted...it doesnt line up to bad at all on the center console, it could be slightly back more for a tighter seal, but im happy with it.

mounted the gauges on the hood and wired them up, also wired the trail tech fog lights on the hood as well using the stock wiring harness.

biggest issue i have, the Timbersled style intake i was gonna use hits the SKINZ hood. the hood has less of a profile the stock hood and the mountain fit hood, so i had to rob the FNI intake off my 05 to have an itake that will work...i dont think i will be able to get the 975 finsihed on the 05 by xmas anyways, so hopefully i still got dibs on another FNI thats available around xmas to replace this one i robbed, lol.

but, its coming...and coming along good so far..

just need to get the following stuff and i can start the engine and check for issues, and finish everyhting up :)

--VE style solid rivots and tools to install them
--install u-cooler/add coolant
--turbo boyz EGT gauge bracket
--add fuel
--run this bad boy and check for leaks, flash codes, issues
--balance primary
--aling track, skis
--try not to wreck it ;)
