AirPlane on a Teardmill and Mythbusters

do they serve peanuts on the flight?

What if the airplane experienced a tailwind that increased exactly the speed of the airplane, would the plane fly?[/quote]

Yes, peanuts will be served.

Yes, the plane still flies with a matching tailwind..Example you ask?? The plane has an airspeed of 500mph. Soooo, there's gonna be a tailwind of 500mph. There is still gonna be air moving across the wings at 500mph.

BUT...if the plane encounters a tailwind GREATER than airspeed, it will need to deploy the huge parachutes located in the nose of the craft.Effectively using them in the reverse matter that a dragster does:D:D

i wonder where this question came from...where do you think it came from? pilot and co pilot kicked back sippin on some crown and passin the one hitter...seems to be the logical explanation

I'm ahead three hours. I get to know first. I can't freeking believe I got sucked into this thread.

im pretty sure we will all know at the same time.. lol...

just cuz its on at say 9 p.m. your time doesnt mean guys out west haveto wait until 9 p.m. there time.. ;)

by the way, i just turned on the disc. channel.. when the fugg does it happen???

Of course it took off. I can't believe this little brain teaser took flight again.
You could put 3 different treadmills under the gear, all spining at different speeds, even different directins and the pilot will not know the difference, it will taxi and take off virtually identical to a solid runway...the only source of thrust is between the engine (ANY type of thrust developing engine) and the surrounding atmosphere...both uneffected by the wheels or the surface under the wheels, they are just there to support the weight of the plane until the wings carry the weight.
