after 25yrs on Ski Doo, I made the jump to Poo

I need to know the absolute "must do" list with this sled.
I am picking up my 2011 Pro 163" tomorrow. It has 500 miles, updated clutches, everything else is stock. Likely going to a BD turbo in a few weeks.
As far as suspension, rider set-up, what's first?

ummm..pretty much just ride it..they are actually very very good stock..a heel heavy weight works good(such as belly busters or slp mtx), might want to add better boards or the best skinz airframes, get the block off panels for the stirup holes and a few vents if so inclined...brad(power addiction) has a head setup that absolutely is worth having if you want a minor mod,,,adjust the suspension as the owners manual says for your weight and style..might end up needing more spring and dampning but otherwise..this is a sled you can ride all season bone stock and not worry about...

OH...and..welcome to poo..hope you have a great time....

I love my 2011 163. It hasnt given me any issue...it may be worth your time to check out silber turbos before you make a purchase.

umm must do's? underhood bag, tunnel renforcment plates...thats about it. They do like mtx weights, and you might like the hd rear spring.

Can't believe you went to the darkside D!
J/K, Congrats! but you're gonna have to yer name now:face-icon-small-sho

How about something like "myprogetsstuckalot", or "iwishicouldmakeitupthat":face-icon-small-win

PM and i'll hook you up with a guage lifter.

block off panels for stirrup?

I am going to check the motor mounts, get a skid plate, will likely hold on the can (going aspirated), How about suspension set up? I am about 200lbs (all muscle!:face-icon-small-hap) I know the approach angle on this is money though. What boards and tunnel reinforcers do you guys recommend. I will also need a course on clutching/cleaning. I am good with DOO, but over that now!

For running boards I would highly recommend air frames they are wider and a lot more sturdy. I know if you order from skinz it might be a while but if you call Northstar in Preston they have air frames in stock. Like you I'm learning about my Polaris. Airframes worth the money imo

I highly reccomend revalving and adding a piggyback resavoir to your stock shocks. Holz will do this upgrade for a great price. If your riding above 9k you need pink exhaust valve springs. As for clutching, like said above a heavy heel weight is the best in this clutch. To clean it ONLY use soap and water and air. I take mine to the carwash and then blow it out with air. The secondary you should run the black/purple spring and one delrin washer. The footwell blockoff is a must have as well. Also if your running high elevation more intake air helps a lot. ENJOY

my 11 163 has stock exhaust springs, no footwell blockoffs, and stock rear delrins and stock springs front and rear, with stock weights and I ride at 11k and my sled runs perfect, and hasnt given me an issue.

Guage LIfter?

Hey Matt,
How are things? Yeah, I dumped the BB XP. It rode great, just time to try something different! I don't know if climbing anything will be the sleds fault however. More like the "indian" not the arrow! :face-icon-small-ton

Let's get together soon. If we get enough pow, I may try to get out on Sunday for some road miles. Shoot me some info on the guage lifter too.

Been on a Doo myself Sence 2002.

New Pro 155 in the garage. Welcome to the other side.

I'm with you on the clutch stuff. All new to me. Came from a Yammi to a Doo in 2002.

If you are going to do a turbo, I wouldn't waste your money on any engine or clutching stuff. I have a mostly stock pro, but had a chance to ride one for a while that had the Fox Evol X shocks on it. Not gonna lie, it was a HUGE difference. I think the Air Frames would be the way to go for running boards, if not, it wouldn't hurt to get the Better Boards or other brand of insert. No experience on a turbo pro, but from what I have read on the all powerful SnoWest information super highway is that the stock skid will work OK with a turbo, but some of the aftermarket ones are an improvement? Be sure to post your opinion of your first few rides, unless you already have. I have tried to ride numerous xp's and I feel like a monkey f&^&^&^g a football when I do. It will be interesting to see the other side of the fence.

Fo Sho Danny Boy. You're gonna love that machine. Stock or Boosted.
I have ridden both and they're the real deal.

I give you a shout

Welcome to the dark side! I've been on Polaris since 1991 (aside from a stint on AC during the xlt years but us Polaris guys try to forget those)

Check out Feethookers for your sled. We have them in stock, made in the usa, and stiffen the running board

Sled is in the mod shop!

Well, I got it home last night.
Very clean sled, crazy light.
Already have it up on the lift.
I actually like the chain case/draining system. Changed that right away. Looks like it's never been changed.
Put on the skid plate. Not liking the cheap plastic pop rivets and the star bolts that hold the hood on. I guess I will be bringing that tool with me for riding.
Stock can is surprisingly small, lighter than any doo can I have had.
Track is very tight, needed?
I hand tightened the chain tensioner and backed it off 1/2 turn.
Clutches were fairly clean.
What's a good set up for 8-11k'?

Dan
