The EPA is such a crutch on every single automotive vehicle manufacturer, and it keeps getting worse and worse. I especially wish they didn't regulate powersports as heavily. You guys say, "left on the table" like they just forgot about it or didn't perform enough dyno runs to locate the perform being found by tuners. I've got to believe the 858 was tuned specially to meet emissions requirements and that is why the aftermarket, WHICH DOESN'T HAVE TO MEET EMISSIONS, is finding additional power.
If arctic cat is putting out another tune, I can guarantee there will be minimal performance gain. No matter how many tunes they put out, they still have to meet the epa requirements.
Also, the same happened with the 9R I heard though. Polaris left a lot on the table the first year the motor was out and really stepped it up the next year.
Not to mention the 9R had massive fueling issues causing the knock and eventual spark plug failures. It was funny too when that happened. People were blaming NGK spark plugs for breaking, but Polaris uses a BPR9ES spark plug. Which to my knowledge was used in the Polaris 850's and the boost's as well as the CTEC 2 Cat's and none of them had issues. Just a bit of trivia I guess.
