6 YO Bedwetting

Progressive reward system.....

Don't pee the bed for 10 days...... get a new game he wants
No golden shower for the bed bugs for 20 days..... upgrade the PS2 to a PS3 or wii or X-Box
Shut down the lemonade fountain for 30 days..... He's no longer duct taped to the toilet...

Progressive reward system.....

...

Some books say to not do that. I disagree with those books. Our 2 1/2 year old seemed to have a good handle on potty training for a while, then all of a sudden he started having accidents again. Never with the nanny, only with my wife and I. So we started giving him M and Ms as a reward for going in the potty. Worked like a charm. Within a week he stopped asking for the M and Ms. Kids (at least mine) seem to respond to that type of bribery. I'd prefer you give him a basketball or something. Video games are a good way to promote laziness, fatness (is that even a word?) and brain-deadness (thats not a word).

Humiliation is NOT a good solution. If bribery doesnt work, try the doc.

My two cents

Why not just let it run it's course, what's the big deal? I don't have any kids but I pissed my bed all the time until I was 9 or 10 and did it every now and then for a year or two after that. I eventually grew out of it, my parents never gave it a second thought.

Better question would be why does a mom with a 6yr old have her bf sleeping over when the kid is home. Nice role model you have there. Maybe just you being there is his emotional problem. Don't blame the kid for his mom poor judgement.

well if by this you mean being together and in his life for 3 years providing a place to live food on the table and the only father figure ever in his life. then maybe your right i should bail leave them they can live on the street or on welfare he can grow up with no father no chance of going to college.

anything else you want to comment on smart@ss??

i was wondering what that smartazz comment was trying to drive at??????????????????

Wasn't trying to be a smartazz at all. If you took it that way try an look at it from the view point of a 6yr old. Ok your 6 an your mom has a bf that sleeps over all the time and or you are over at his house and they sleep together there. How would you feel about it now? Remember this is YOUR mom we are talking about. Doubt you would be very cracked up about the idea no matter how great a person you are. It wasn't a personal attack on you just the cituation your gf put her child in and if what you say is true an she really has nothing other than what you provide maybe YOU should look at making better choices in women.

that's right, single mothers/fathers should never date again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its nice of you to preach ethics to me then tell me that the girlfriend i picked did not deserve a second chance from a mistake she made when she was young very big of you!!!

My son had the same problem. He slept so sound that nothing would wake him up. It sucks but it's normal. We have been using an alarm for a while with pretty good results...it has a moisture sensor for the underwear with a pager type unit that he pins to his shirt. Damn thing wakes us up across the house with doors closed but it does the job. It's supposed to wake the child up during "the event" so that the brain associates the feeling with the need to get up.

We took him in to the doc early on and were told he had an under developed bladder and that we just had to wait it out. He's 13 now and rarely has any problems with bed wetting at home and never at friends houses. Completely normal kid except for the fact that I'm his dad:D I can get you the website of that alarm if you're interested...Good luck:beer;

you probably don't fit into the boyfriend catagory anymore eh? More like commen law. I applaud you for givin the boy someone to look up too.

Some pretty ***ged up familys out there, a boy needs someone to serve the dad role.
