5 known 09 D8's Running 8050 rpm

P
I was wondering how many others are running the same. I was told it was the re flash. Has any one done any thing to fix this. I was thinking of waiting till Polaris can fix it.

If you read the other numerous posts on this subject you will find that the update has most sleds really rich. This could be one reason you are not getting ideal RPM's. The big topic for D8 owners right now is using the PCV or some other fuel controller to lean out the top end to make these sleds rip.

so was it turning more rpms before???? nothing else was changed besides the update

They all had the update. I bought mine in Nov picked it up with the re flash so i don't know what it was before. It's all stock with a HPS can.

my 08 with the 10 update turned 8150 8 miles into the first ride..by the end of the day its cranking 8350....no fuel controller riding 1000-3500 ft on the first 2 trips on it since updated...buddies brand new 10 rmk-155 is turning 8200 on the money at the same elevations....I havent even pulled a plug yet but I would guess from the feel of it its a touch rich at full throttle....

7900-8050 for me, just lost my voltage reg. and ecu friday. My sled will not pull rpms no matter what clutch setup I try. I dropped 8 grams of weight, yes I said 8 grams and 0 change on rpm on top. I am hoping with a new ecu and voltage reg. something will change.

How many miles with the new update?

Yea i am not to happy. I have 350 miles on it now. It runs great never acts up but it would be nice to see the deference with that extra RPM.

I have around 200 miles on the new update and around 650 total. My budies machine has around 150 on the update and his runs worse than mine. He only pulls 7800-7950, he lost his vr and ecu last year with just over 200 miles on the sled.

Mine gets 8100 on the trail with an slp single and stock polaris 10-62's. The dealer has been riding it around trying to figure out what is wrong with it. My voltage regulator and ecu are probably toast too. As has been discussed on the forum, there is a rumor of another reflash to fix the flash from the update. I know mine is running rich as well, my plugs are always really dark when I pull them. I have decided that if it doesn't run right when I get it back I will invest in a PC-5 and hope that works. If that doesn't work, she gone.

I have 09 D8 155 ride 6500-9000 and can only peak at 8000 and hold around 7800-7900. I have more air intake vents, AAEN single pipe, Skins Super-Q & MTX 65 w/1G at tip. I had the stock 62 weights and could not pull 8000 last week-end so, I put the MTX in and could pull 8000 and rev's up quicker.
I have a freind that has 08 DB 155 with 60 weights & Super-Q and his peaks at 8000 also.

We both had the updates done about 200 miles ago!

We ride in the powder off the trails and run at the higher RPM most of time. I pulled my plugs and they are coco brown in color. I think it's running rich on the top.

Would like to get more RPM but like have a sled that runs!

This is a bit subjective, based on all the different clutch combinations people use, and the altitudes they ride at, snow conditions, pipe temperature, etc.
For the most part my updated D8 will turn somewhere between 8 to 8250, depending on conditions. The dyno results on a stock 2010 updated D8 over on dynotech's site show max peak power around 8100 rpm, with the curve relatively flat between 8 and 8200 rpm..

I would guess your 8050 isn't all that odd.
:D

I think that anyone that has rode their 800 when it is pulling around 8300 rpms will tell you it is a whole different animal when running at that rpm. I know mine was. If you can only get about 8000 rpms plus or minus 100rpms on the trail, your sled will be a dog when under a load on a hill or in deeper snow...

i was pulling 8350-8400 last year got the update and could only pull 8100 on the trail. now i installed the pcv and can pull 8250 i ride 8,000- 10,000 ft.
slp pipe and clutched for elevation

Are your RPM's under load? Are you running 68 gram MTX's with one rivet in the tip per SLP? Just curious, you had the exact same problem and setup I have. If I can get my voltage regulator and ecu fixed maybe I will bite the bullet and get a PCV.

not sure what the clutch weights are tri city set it up
under load i was only pulling maybe 7900 before pcv
now im pulling 8100 under load with pcv

My 08 800 dragon with the new update runs ok with a slp single, 68 gram mtx weights with out any rivets, blue pink primary, stock secondary, and a PCIII with the slp map. Can pull 8150 under load at 8000 feet running between 38 and 40 mph track speed. Any higher elevation sucks the life out of it. At 9500 feet i can only pull 7850-7950 under load. Going to change the gears from a 20-41 to a 19-42. If that doesn't pull the r's up then the next step is going to a 66 gram mtx weight with one gram in the outter hole. After that change the helix to a 58-40-36 or a 60-40-36 from the stock 56-42-36 and add two delrin washers to help it react faster. Last year before the update I was running the same setup with out the PCIII. I could only pull 7850-7950 at 9500 feet. If you take a look at the map that slp provides, it adds a lot of fuel in the midrange and then leans out the top end. I hope this helps.

My 09 700 is the same way, just dropped 8 grams with no changes in the peak RPMs? Doesn't make sense to me,tach off? Its like its governed at 8100 or something.
