Going to do a egr and dpf delete with a H&S MM on my 2012 3500 Laramie. Interested on any info from Guy's that have ripped out all this emission garbage on their trucks.

i did the egr on my 11 mega. Little bit of a bitch to get the cooler out, but its actually a pretty easy install, never noticed a difference with anything after the EGR, DPF was already done and i have a MM also. i run on mild and never touch it.

Do you have the overdive transmission software with the MM? Also what setting do you have ur timing on? Thanks

Oh and how is ur fuel economy, cause stock is crap.....

If you plan on running it hard at all you will be wanting head studs. The gasket will pop with just head bolts, it may take a while but it will happen. Head studs aren't too bad to install but make damn sure you re torque them. I did the gasket twice on my 08 because I didn't retorque. Other than that the install is pretty straightforward, get some pbblaster for the exhaust and you will also need to drop your trans bracket or cut the down pipe to get it out.

Personally, I have had less than impressive results from delete's on my '11 than on the '07 I had prior. I only saw about a 2mpg increase, if that, did it increase power?? Yep, but that comes with a price... Head gasket on a cold Christmas night 150 miles from home. I could see if I drove it hard or constantly saw high boost but I can't recall ever seeing over 28lbs, the '07... I was like a kid in a candy store with that one but eventually became responsible, sold that one with 107k miles and not 1 mechanical issue.

Talking with a couple local dealers and head gaskets are becoming quite common for them with "tuned" trucks and of course they are all being told that they aren't running them hard. Cumminsforum.com has a ton of info on this and a few guys that are doing drive and cylinder pressures and this and that claim that we are quite safe with the H&S tunes, I'm not quite convinced any more, these newer rigs seems to be a little tougher to tune safely. I would say if your going to go that route, plan on putting in Head studs for a peace of mind. One dealer told me he has had a couple trucks in on their 3rd gasket and they are sending them in to get "fire rings" put in to see if that helps.

The delete's do wake these up and in my opinion.... bring out the Cummins in them. But thanks to the jokers that think it's cool to "roll coal" at every stop sign for a block, the EPA is really putting the hurt down on us. I've been tempted to put mine back to stock, but they've documented the tuner and all that so no more warranty regardless.

Do it.... but understand the risks involved. I was getting an honest 20mpg + with my '07 (6.7L) after deletes, and my '11 with the same kit is lucky to see 14 with a tailwind. Other people are reporting better MPG's and no head gasket failure, so just because I'm telling you my experience doesn't mean you'll have the same.

Just interested in stock or mild tune this is my baby. But have read that if ur timing is set to high you will have prolems with your HG. Guy's are saying you should set timing to setting 2.

What size down pipe and exhaust? I am thinking 5" should work well and let this thing breath instead of sucking in its own farts

I've got a '12 cummins, and bought all the deletes and an H&S MM but havent installed them yet. Is there any way to do the delete and not increase the horsepower? just run the truck stock, but without the dpf and egr? That was all I was really after, but if I can't do that, this truck might go down the road.

like i said i bought my truck with the tuner and dpf delete, had 25k onit, i know the previous owner and he traded simply for a write off of bussiness, i have just the H&S tune, likei said i leave it on mild all the time, no coal for this guy runs clean. Best mileage i got was going back home to mn for hay days last year and averaged 17+ over 1500 miles, pulling my 27' sled trailer w/4 sleds and 4 guy + gear 11 round trip, buckin wind there and back. But average hwy mileage is 17-20, just depends how i drive, 70 and under it'll do better. Good luck, i have stock exhaust and just the dpf filler pipe, cats are still on...thats the next to go and said i should see up to 2 mpg better after that. AS for the deletes with no power upgrade yes you can.

Stock tune

The biggest reason for wanting to delete is it gets cold up here in Norther BC -25/ -40 Celsius and I need to warm the truck up, but this emmision junk does not like the truck idling. So it constantly has to regen. The EPA must think we all live in the Bahamas.

Just make sure you have the defuels shut off on the MM, reports have said that when going into defuel is when the pressures get real high and pop the gasket.

Mild (not sure what they call it now) with no ATT and timing on 2 "should" be a safe bet from what I've been reading.

I've got 5" exhaust with a Flo Pro muffler and a turn down tip. Doesn't bother anyone in the cab.

I havent had any trouble at all yet with my '12..... I get 10-11 with it pulling an enclosed and 16 on the highway..... no its not great especially with the price of diesel being what it is but the.more and more I read about tbe hassle with the deletes (if you can eve..get them anymore) it kinda makes me not wanna bother with.them :(

That's exactly what my stock 12 gets towing a 28ft trails west GN. Unloaded is very similar too

Removing egr cooler was very noticable on my truck, would spool quicker and fuel pedal response was much improved. I drove both deleted with egr cooler and deleted without and without is definately noticable. Yes headgaskets can be an issue while tuned but it is only happening now to the owners who are misinformed or have no idea what they are doing. You will be fine, download the Mild tuning with no Aggressive turbo tuning from h&s's website. Set the timing to 2 and run the mild tune or tow tune and all will be fine in the world. Much testing has been done on Cumminsforum.com and this tune has been deemed fool proof. Be sure to let the engine warm up to a safe operating temp and life is good. Trans tune is worth every penny and will be much better in the long run for trans life. Feel free to PM me with any questions. Good luck.

I just deleted mine It's going back to stock when I get home 9 to 10 miles per gallon towing I don't think the HO engine benefits from the delete Like the older 6.7
