427 hp 1200 4tec (on day one)

and doo still makes a lightweight 2s that stays on top of the snow.revolution...bam:)

So.....if SkiDoo is that worried about weight issues why are they producing a heavy four stroke? You talk about staying on top of the snow, why is BRP spending so much money on four stroke technology? Oh that's right, everyone already knows that answer:-)

Not to be picky or anything but Doo "claims" the 1200 is 499lbs. Yammi claims their short tracker around 530lbs don't they? It's not that BRP produced a heavy snowmobile(500lbs guys!) It's that Yamaha is improving year after year all the while still producing something completely durable and reliable(read overbuilt)

I'd say that's nothing more than good old fashioned competition right there. And who benefits? :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Sorry to call a 500lbs sled heavy isn't right considering the other 3 brands were still hitting that weight on a regular basis up until a few years ago.

I have to digress, I wanna get outta here before ALL the Doo boys make their way over. Happy Posting!

TT I think you might be reading into this too much. BRP makes 2 AND 4 stroke sleds now! ;) We all know that two strokes are lighter. Where's Yamaha's 2 stroke at? Oh that's right, everyone already knows that answer:-)

Neither one of us is going to win here. I know BRP makes both, which is excellent. Reeb brought up a very valid point. 500 pounds in not that heavy for a reliable machine. Yamaha used to make both, but they're way past that now. Just wait, will BRP be the same before too long. I'd be willing to bet my .02 they will make the change!? LOL

03rmking- Not even warm here...just having fun..just keeping the "claims" realistic...at 500 lbs, 250+ hp and a 146/16/2.25 I think MY sled will climb just fine..especially with Slim at the wheel...LOL-;)

TurboT- Again...thanks for using common sense and a sense of humor...rare quality on any forum...:beer;...my Father (God rest his sledding soul) had a 1976 Sno-Jet with the Yamaha 440 fan motor in it and it had a TAPERED aluminum tunnel/bulkhead, slide rail skid and 121/15/.75" lug track....that 48 hp made it a killer 30 years ago climbing the front of Lions Head...the next revolution was years/years of 65 hp Phazers around here..LOL...piped/ported (75-80 hp thanks to DTR)/cleats/long tracks/playing with head gaskets/P-85's etc. etc. and I sat there on a 650 Indy SKS (SNOW KING SPECIAL for the youngsters-LOL) shaking my head...I had a solid 105 hp for a couple years than I bought a new/used 650 SKS with a SLP RZ700 (150 hp) and WOW was that thing fast-LOL...

aka- I have been around the block more than most...and riding out west since 1981-LOL...

Iamvector- I just "threw that out there" since a couple guys made it sound (427/273) was easy...as in ALL TYamahas make that on pump gas and there wifes trail ride them...

Again for the slower ones in the back...I started this to inform and of course have a little fun...plus its summer...and at 4700+ hits I think WE are having FUN!!-BJ:D

Amen brother, this has been fun! This is awesome for the sport of snowmobiling.

Some interesting reading here...B J I know from experience that a short track no matter how wide will NOT climb well....unless you drop and roll the case back about a foot. I run a nytro and tried a 156 16 wide camo extreme and a timbersled rear skid and cannot keep the front end down...when you are turning 70 mph track speed you need a long track to keep that front end from nosing over...I am going this year to the 162...PS I have had much better riders than me on mine and they all have the same problem...Unless your mountains are only 20- 30 seconds on the throttle but here you can be in for well over a minute JMHO

Mcx is claiming 240 hp with a head shim. I like the look of the of the kit with the turbo mounted up front close to the engine, lag should not be as much as an issue with as with their nytro kits. The mcx kit looks pretty good. It will be interesting to see how many doo guys turbos these and long track these after saying how Yamaha guys dump so much money into a sled.

Or...how many Yamaha guys go Doo... ;)

I just read through the PDF for the Doo.
Where? OR will there be an external intake / filter setup?
