300 XC vs XCW

Simbatheking, can you post a picture of your coolant hose routing around the carb ?

. I know it's not the greatest pic but u get the idea. I forget the name of the hose it is but its high temp and doesn't rub through easily at all it was $30 for 3 ft

I ran a 300sx this season and struggled with the carb on the really cold days. Carb jacket, coolant carb heater & shrouds. When its warm it hauls the mail when you get on the pipe, but my carb & cold issues ruined the best days. Im selling it and buying a fi 4 stroke...

Ya possibly pipe temp issue. I forgot to mention I made a pipe insulator just like sleds have w exhaust blanket and fiberglass. Maybe that why I have no issues. I live in se bc and ride cold days too

Any chance you could show how the pipe insulator is put together?

I first wrapped the whole pipe in exhaust blanket that I got off a piece of a komatsu dozer but any of the exhaust wrap would work too it's just expensive. Then temporarily wrapped it w duct tape to hold it on. Then cut a bunch of 4"x12" or so pieces of fibreglass cloth. Mix the resin and hardener and wrap the whole pipe w the soaked pieces of cloth and I did 2 layers. I had to trim parts w a grinder after that was right next to the eng because I didn't have the clearance

Stock xcw or did you have any work done like the head, porting etc?

Stock 2008 300xc-w. Fmf gnarly pipe and silencer. 5 speed tranny. No motor work or electronics. I know not the best setup but i had access to a ts 120 kit and a bike i knew i was gonna sell come spring. So i didnt want to spend to set it up knowing it was gone in a few months.

With that all said i would love to go all in on a 300 build. One thing i loved about it was i dont feel bad about holding a 2stroke wide open all day. But i do get nervous bouncing 4stroke off the rev limiter for hours on end.

I rode both back to back today and the close ratio is hands down way better in deep powder. I don't know if there would be much difference anywhere else but the wide ratio feels like is screaming in second and can't pull 3rd. W the close ratio it's night and day better. I've heard pple say on this forum that wide ratios work better for turbo setups tho

Agreed.
My brothers xc is much better than my gasgas for tranny gap not pulling the rpm down

Husqvarna has the 250 I on there web site for north America
Certainly we should get the 300 soon

The Lectron is a tight fit with the carb heater. But all you have to do is cut down the boot that attaches to the airbox. This allows proper fitment and doesn't warp the box, allowing the cover to go back on with ease.

I bought a Lectron because I hate screwing around with jetting. Granted I will be running a richer metering rod for the Timbersled but it's an easy switch.

I've ridden my 330 all year with different temps ranging from 50 to 90+ and have only had to change the idle once and a while. That's one of my favorite parts of the Lectron. Not that changing jets is that hard. But less hassle is nice.

When we were riding last January my buddy with his stock carbd 300 was having issues getting his jetting right for the -10 days. I just had to fiddle with my idle which was nice.

If I'm cleared for riding on wednesday I will be able to compare my 330 w/ Lectron to a stock 300's fuel consumption on a 2 day ride down in NJ.
