3" Track for the Pro

I was just going to ask the same thing as I can't seem to get a solid answer, does the none port with anti stab have any advantage over the center port? In theory the ported track should cool a little better.

Maybe durability? The ported probably will cool better and have less snow build up in the skid. But camoplast only has a year warranty on the ported X3 vs a two year warranty on the non ports...

I'm guessing the warranty is different because Tracks USA cuts the ports into the track themselves.

I have the dropped Avid chaincase, big drivers, and a cut 3 inch 162 extreme. I love the setup. It works great! My only issue has been the durability of the track. I have lost a few paddles in just over 1000 miles.
I have thought about going to the x3 so it doesn't need to cut.

Any thoughts??

Are you sure about that? If tracks USA is doing the center ports I'm not sure they're covered at all. The warranty slip I was referring to was from camoplast but they only mention pre holed tracks. Not sure if that covers the center ports or not. Either way track warranty for a track doesn't matter to most people. I could see having trouble making a claim on a track.

Are the lugs that are torn happen to be on the outermost corners of the track? If so I'd say your track has been rubbing rivets maybe?

Also by big drivers do you mean 8 tooth?

I did a drop and roll on my sled and the track rode hard on the top of the front mounting arm of the skid. I had to install a track carrier kit from wahl bros racing.

Didn't know if you might have that issue going on possibly causing heat, de laminating the paddles?

Just throwing that out there.

Rode Alpine today,it was spring snow and the 3" did not work well at all. Biggest issue was cooling,on the trail I was over 180F even with the scratchers down. Off the trail I was still hitting up to 170F,the track was throwing large chunks that just bounce off the exchangers instead of dust that melts as it hits it. For setup or spring snow you would almost need to have a 2nd sled for those conditions. I am going to try adding additional scratchers to the skis and a longer snow flap to see if that helps.

Just going by what the guy at Tracks USA told me.....

Sledmax, what do you mean by spring snow.? Hard crust or wet heavy slush ?

wet heavy slush it cools very well. It is the icy only leaves a dent in the snow where it gets really hot with the scratchers down.

Any of you people try the x3 on harder pack snow, or spring like conditions ? How does it compare to the stock in these types of snow.

I added 2 extra scratchers to the back of my rails. It does help with the cooling on ice, low snow or hard packed trails.... I highly recommend it.
PS. Don't back up with 4 scratchers down. It gets expensive.

Goforbroke, that's what is was thinking, had a few rides on stock track this year with scratchers down all day was still running 160-180. Had to ride fast, to get temp to come down. Got the 7t,anti stab,162 x3 on yesterday. Ill find out Sunday how it works!

Yes it had a crust on it, below 5000' on the trail there was some water and slush and then it ran cool. Stock sleds were running 140-160, what was said on here about the 3" running 20F warmer then stockers is pretty accurate.

A 162 3" will let you go slower in the trees flot better in the pow, a heavy rider would prob like a 162 3". And if you're on the lighter side and a keep good track speed up, in the tight tree lines the 156 3" would be better. IMO

Ya leaning towards 156 just to try something diff.. Im about 175 i just dnt want to regret having gone down to 156.. But technical tree riding is most of my riding.

Are there times when your riding trees and wish you had a shorter track currently? If not then I wouldn't change. You can go slower than normal with the 3" track. But if you wish you could be more mobile then you won't regret the 156.

I honestly feel you couldn't go wrong with either track. My 3" brought the "wow this is fun!" factor back into riding once again. Not that I wasn't having any fun before...

How do these tracks compare to the stock polaris track on harder snow. This spring time ice getting into the the good stuff can be flat scary on the stock track are the 3" any better or worse? What about stopping compared to the stockers? Maybe this has been discussed but I didn't have time to search through 12 pages. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks

Downhill descent was cool on winter set-up powder with a little fresh on top!!!!

TOTALLY controlled my speed to a dead stop!!

The lugs are stiffer. I did notice that I could spin the track easier on more firm icy snow.

But when it gets traction (going up OR down)....and hooks up....That track is in control!!!! NO STOPPING IT!!!!

I finally got to ride my sled in deep pow last monday. It was night and day over various other sleds (14's and 15's). I'm running the 156 center ported with a KMOD skid and its so awesome. Wheelie turnouts, hop-overs, climbing, sidehilling, you name it - it's better.

I would compare it to riding my buddies boondocker turbo with all the goodies at 6-7lbs. That's here in NW Montana.
