28 hour round trip to ride 6 hours

We have driven 24+ hours one way to ride and visit, but usually take a week and ride a min. of 3 days. We have ridden from Alaska down to California and many many points in between. But this year Montana has some great snow. Ride almost every weekend and only have to drive 20 minutes to 2 hours for some of the best mountain riding in the country.

I find it a little ironic that I am posting after Jay who lives basically where we go on our 24+ drive and we have yet to ride together. Someday Jay!

As for the sex comment, you guys tire too quickly. It can be a tough choice, but I would rather ride my sled all day than attempt to ride the hubby all day.

some people need to put themselves in a midwesterners shoes. if the mountains here here & flatland where you live what would you do? don't be too quick to reply & say move. i may be speaking for some others here as well but this is my 0.02. i have lived here my whole life, my family is here, my friends, & most of all my lifestyle. people don't realize that there is a huge lifestyle change from one state to the next. i love the mountains, i love wyoming, but most of all i love minnesota & i am proud to be a minnesotan. i will save my money & vacation time & take it to wyoming. would love to move there but could never see myself doing it anymore... i guess that comes with age......

Smoothlander, I can relate, been many trips 28hrs + depending on the weather to ride 60 miles. The worst trips is when I went alone. leave at 5:00 on Friday, ride Saturday and back home to teach Sunday scool by 9:00am. This next trip I'll be flying.:

It Happens

I have trailered my harley farther than that to Stugis to ride in a hail storm in August. You just have to deal with what Mothernature deals ya.

drove to get away from the snow

We just drove 12 hrs to get away from the bloody snow. Got tired of plowing the driveway and it was too easy to ride out of that driveway over to the hills and ride all day. Got over 1100 miles on my new XP this year and the snow is now falling again at home. Damn. Have to stay here in the south for a while longer. (Grin.)

We all have a price to pay for what we do for fun. I live in Ohio and its a good 8-10 hrs just to get to the deep stuff in the UP. New York or PA is just as far, and the thought of the west.....I salivate at the thought, but have lots of changes to do just to get out there. Would love to relocate, but its just not about one person its a whole family with kids in school blah blah. The bottom line is we have to pay to play! Fuel prices suck everywhere!! But we will do what we have to do!

Have a good trip enjoy your drive!:cool:

I really envy you guys that live in or near the mountains, you can ride every week, you can pick & choose when to ride and go out after the big storms, you can justify sticking 15-20g in an awsome sled - I would love to live in western Wyoming but my life is in Ia. I usually drive 960 to 1250 miles 2-3 times a year to get to my destinations - maybe that is what makes it so great when I get there !?:D:beer;:beer;
