2023 Ski-Doo Summit NEO

It's a 600 Summit G4 with de-rated output is all.
What's cheaper about it?
Unless they simply decided to sell it at break-even cost?

The chassis is too big for a 40hp sled!

They should have added a ++ version w 154" track and the 85hp 600EFI engine. Would have been an excellent budget powder sled and a capable light utility sled in one. I for one can't understand why they don't put that great little engine in more sleds???

This looks like a piss poor attempt.
No the evo rmk was a piss poor attempt, I feel like this thing hits the mark for the intended crowd. Lighter would have been better obviously but this should let a new/younger/intermediate rider learn some actual mountain skills.

It's supposed to be the jump from a 200cc 9hp sled that weighs 207 dry. Neo Should be a bulletproof engine at 55hp. 430lb - 8lbs per hp vs. 23lbs per hp on the 200cc. Should be a good jump for my 9yo and keep her busy for a few years

The thing is that it is just a de-tuned 600 liquid.
So when the kid git's ready to upgrade, then what?

More better would be to offer a basic 600 Summit, and offer a de-tune parameter that can either be set via the adult, or the dealer, and have it adjustable from 40hp to 130hp.
Then you have a sled that will grow with the kids ability.
It's still a full size sled, but at least it will grow up for the same $.

It's pretty similar to the EVO, which is to say it's last-gen components and fairly heavy for what it is, but about as good as anything for youngsters to ride around. Seems really silly to de-rate the 600 by half though; they could just sell the full-up motor with some sort of hardware plug that de-rates it. Like Ox said, when JR gets a couple years of experience and adds another foot and 30 lbs, you're not stuck buying another sled. Also, 40 HP is about what an old Fuji 440 fan puts out; why bother with liquid-cooling at such a low power level? I'd probably go with the EVO over this, mostly because it'd be easy to lighten. For a kid with a little experience though, I think the Cat Blast beats both out of the box by a wide margin.

Evo is better price but needs a lot more $$ and time in mods to be on the same playing field as this doo or yamaha/cat. I'll wait to see what comes from yamaha/cat and polaris before I order anything but right now I'm leaning toward this Doo. If the evo comes with better boards and taller stance for a decent price that's likely what I'll pick up for her since the she can run fan cooled with minimal snow and I don't have to worry about it.

Any decent used 600 is around the same $$$ anyways, might as well have new and when she's ready in 4-5 years, sell this for almost what I paid for it and upgrade.

I have an Evo which I spent $1,500 in upgrades on. Great little sled but I really like the looks of this Neo. Too bad we never get demo days anymore - at least not around here anyway.
Evo - love the fact that it was upgradable - hate the carb - wish it was EFI
Maybe someone will figure out how to re-tune this de-tuned motor!

Ya i wonder if it will be possible to turn it into a full size 600. Because the price is pretty close to the backcountry 600 efi which puts out around 25 hp more. There must be a away to make it more powerful since you're still paying a somewhat high price for 55 hp.

Sounds like the Summit etec 600 has been discontinued now. That was initially my plan for my 10 year old, but I guess they are kinda pushing us into a Neo

They are using up parts to discontinue the 600R. 650 for 2024. That is why there is not a 600R mountain sled next year. Limited. I am cornfused as to why they would detune the 600 non-powervalve for the neo. As mentioned, the 600EFI non powervalve was available last year at 80 hp in the backcountry. I looked at it for Tater for a bit, then realized that going from a 120 horse kitty to an 80 horse Doo wouldn't work. Again, super confused how they can take an 80 horse simple EFI engine and make it 40 horse. Or why.

That does not make any money for BRP. BRP needs people to buy sleds every year for $8000-$22000 to make money. ZERO reason for them to make a sled that you can upgrade every year for next to nothing.

For my 10 year old and 14 year old, this looks like a better option over the EVO. Sure, it could use more power, but perfect for the boys and I bet fun for any adult to rip around on and not scare themselves out of the sport. My buddy just got one for his son and is hoping to ride tomorrow for the first time if passes open. I’m excited to get his feedback.

Has anyone knocking this sled ever rode one? Or had any of their kids ride one?

My buddy has one for me. Way
More of a sled than cat. Looked at one at jackson last spring. Not sure on power but it won't be as bad as the blast which didn't have a bumper, too wide of a ski stance, weights not even close and can't ever get them, and needs geared down. I thought they looked awesome for a kid

For all the nah sayers, wake up, the thing is a wicked little sled...hope your not teaching your kids that piss poor atitude, its about creating fun for kids, this is that! Sold out anyways.
