2023 cat reveal!!

From what I could see, didn’t look like there was a motor in it. I asked if they would open the side panel and they said no. Wouldn’t let me take a pic if the gage. The gage is different from the ascender. The cat rep got on the sled and took a pic of the gage with his phone and showed us. The tunnel is single wall like doo and Polaris. Looking over the whole thing, they’ve done a lot to save weight. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s lighter than a matryx when the sleds roll off assembly line. They will have demo rides before snow check. No belt drive in it, just an empty drive shaft with what looks like 3-D printed cover.

Looks like they really wanted to get the new chassis out for Haydays but concerning how much is left. New sled reveals are always a full sled that can be fully groomed over, I feel we are getting a shell with minimal details about the changes. Hopefully we see a marketing push from Cat over the next few months.

This looks promising in the long run. Given the timeline, it doesn't surprise me that it's basically a mock-up. I completely fail to understand what they're doing with the motor, if I've got it right. I have no problem with the 600 being first out of the gate to get demos going and such, but does it really make sense to hold out a year or two for the new motor? Anyway, pretty sure that horse is dead... If it's going to take that long, they do need to get the hype machine in gear. - especially when you add in the strong possibility of delays. If they have something people can try out this winter and the chassis works well, that's great, but nobody's going to be so blown away they'll count down the days for a year just to order one for the following year. That said, they are probably scrambling just to do what they're proposing. I just can't see why the 800 isn't part of the picture if the chassis will be ready for '24.

Anyway, I'd love to see 390 dry weight. That may be too good to be true, but it's in the realm of possibility. Belt drive helps with that, and it looks slimmed down too. I'm curious on the running boards: are they really going with plastic, or could that just be a mock-up thing to get something out there? It doesn't seem like a place any kind of plastic or composite is going to work, but if they've figured it out, more power to them. Even being "just" a 600, I'd love to try it out. And while I don't see buying the 600, why again can't they just sell it with the CTEC 800?

It looks like they took a blast chassis and ran with it. I'm not saying that's a step in the wrong direction though.

They did say something about an intensive 4month marketing program slowly releasing all the details.

I'm sure they have been pushing to get ready looking models, but don't forget this is not a this season produ tion model. It doesn't really need to be ready yet.

From the AC website ask an engineer section "The running boards are lighter, stronger, and easy to swap out." Why would you need easy to swap out if they are strong enough?? Just thought that was a weird quote for them to put on their website.

That was my thoughts as well.

Very, very similar in shape to the blast

If they will offer an 800 or something bigger for 2024, I’ll be snowchecking one. 1st time ever purchasing new, but I’ve been waiting a long time to be able to buy new and this looks promising to me. So far I’m happy with the direction their marketing has been going with a brand new sled. They hyped up the reveal with letting us pick a name, and with the supply chain issues they at least had something for haydays. If Poo or Doo did what they’ve done this year all their faithful would be praising how great they are. Cat hasn’t done well with marketing, but they’ve done well making a great sled. One bad year and everyone hated them forever. Let’s not forget the other 2 manufacturers bad years to be fair.

The tunnel looks super deep. Initially I didn’t understand that, but it looks like there is a TON of clearance in the picture I saw.

We have some non porous 3D printed parts on some ag equipment that mud basically will not stick to. Wonder if snow and ice would be the same? Maybe any of the 3D printed parts on that sled are just there because they are one offs.

lol, no. We’d be ripping them a new one too. I swear it’s like some of you have Stockholm syndrome.

There is a reason why all other manufacturers actually do full reveals. It’s a huge deal with a ton of money sunk in. By the time this sled comes out with a usable motor at altitude, the matryx will have been out for 4 years, with a whole new chassis due in another 2.

And have had an 850, boosted 850, and a 900 ?

Don’t kid yourself, The other brands put out a bad product and everyone makes excuses for them and it gets swept under the rug. Their almost 20 year run of garbage 800 engines is proof of that. Meanwhile on social media cat can do no right. Cats still not allowed to live down the 2012 problems for some reason, even though the current sleds are a far cry better. Why is that? Polaris just has marketing with social media figured out. Meanwhile cat on the other hand hasn’t had a marketing team since the m-chassis.

Those garbage 800s have treated my very large sledding circle EXTREMELY well since 2012. We’ve owned some 35+ of them and had to rebuild ONE 2011.

No one cares about 2012 Cats anymore, people just like to poke fun at the fact that they are still running the 800 in a prehistoric chassis.

On a positive note that chassis is soon to be the past, along with the 800.

I wish they would have thrown us some sort of bone on the new motor… forced air, or higher displacement than anything on the market, something, anything. A timeline too, not the “this year and that year” confusing thing they did.

I understand giving people another reveal to look forward to, but dragging things out that have already taken so long is just gonna cause disinterest.

We have not been so lucky with the Polaris 800s, we had 4 of them go down in one season. This is the reason I ride cat now, have not had an engine failure since switching and usually put about 5k miles on them before selling them. That prehistoric chassis still does anything any of the others do, so I just don’t get the hate.

I’ll agree the reveal could have been better, more info even about the changes to the chassis compared to the old chassis would have been nice. This is where cat seems to fail in the marketing department, they don’t even tell anyone what they have or have improved.

Luckily I typically ride a sled for 5 years or so, so I got a few more to go on my ‘20. Maybe by time I’m ready to buy they’ll have the bigger engine and any bugs worked out.

the air intakes also look like they will not get covered up so nice improvement there. I like everything i see and was 100% going to order one.......until 600 only. if the thing was super light maybe it would be alright, but if theres going to be a bigger engine coming im not going to buy a 600 then hope to trade it off in one year and lose a bunch of money on it. Those of us who ride mostly in the mtns are pissed because no 800 or larger but the 600's do sell really well in the trail areas in the midwest and east where elevation isnt a factor. My thought on why they didnt use the existing 800 is maybe the new engines us a different fuel system that isnt compatible so didnt want to make two fuel systems. low pressure system vs high pressure direct injection. hope to ride one this winter on a demo ride or something.
