2022?

And another let down...

I think 2023 will be a BIG year for Cat tho... they have patents out for a narrow sled, everything moved to the riders right, and the exhaust running over the top of the motor and out the back. The significantly narrower clutch seems to be a giveaway that they will be working towards a narrower sled in the future. They also have a patent for a two stroke turbo, so its coming, they don't really have a choice at this point.

My buddy was going to check and sell one of his older Cats. The video changed his mind. I was hoping for a 600 MC or HC to upgrade my boy's 2016. Guess he is getting a Doodoo next year. I mean, Skidoo didn't really change much in the mountain sled area, but at least the video wasn't painful to watch. Polaris did a good job, hate to say it. They are going to clean up next year.

If next year isnt a new chassis, Im buying a polaris. Will still have 2 other cats in the stable though. The alpha track and rail with elevate still pulled harder than my buddies 2.75 Qd2 850 this year in deep pow. But the new chassis and boost is just too tempting. And a better warranty with boost than Cat has without boost.

boost Polaris all sold out

Thus why I said next year. I had my snowcheck complete Monday, but didnt click to confirm. Ive had 3 first year Poos. 6 engines later, I still try to learn a lesson.
Crazy how everyones experiences differ. I have had 6 since 2012. ZERO issues. We have had I would guess 30+ Polaris 800s/850s in my riding crew since 2013. No motor issues with the exception of a 2011 that got a “preventative” top end after a dealer inspection. Never towed one out.

Not like my cats have been bulletproof. The Ctecs arent as reliable as the Zuki. My 18 MC blew 2 engines in 1200mi. 19 MC 800 miles, no issues, 19 Alpha engine blew at 850mi. I feel all the failures were due to snow ingestion. All crank to rod bearing failures. I run the bdx intake fix now. Cant believe Cat hasnt addressed the issue. The 20-21 engines are getting more oil to the bottom end, which helps.

Bummer about Cat this year. Doo and Cat pretty much sat this year out.
Maybe next year will be a big year for both.

Marketing team must have taken the year off again. I’m on all social media, follow a ton of sledder stuff, and have only seen a couple of pictures and the lame article Snowest posted that cat must have sent them... once again calling a bunch of stuff that isn’t new, new. Nothing on their website.

Wheres the lineup?

everything moved to the riders right,

You know this for a fact?

This, the belly dragging that an elevate kit starts to address, and the choppered out spindles are the only things keeping me from buying another cat.

I don't really care about 20k turbo sleds, their NA motors are fine, it's all the handling stuff that drives me nuts.

Totally. I know that Tater's 2016 600 will go another 2K miles without issues (2200 now) but the chassis......erk. I let him ride my 146 Freeride the other day on the hill, I rode his. Wow. Horrible. And he rode my 850 like a champ, way better. (He is 10.)

I think it's a reference to this? Looks Blast-centric but at least it shows the tunnel dump exhaust and and shifted motor.

My totally unscientific theory is that AC recently really dials up the green on their flagship sleds during the final MY of that chassis ('11 LTD, '16 LTD, '17 MC), so expect new stuff next season. OK ok it's a weak theory (and only holds if you consider '17 MC and '18 Ascender big changes over prior models) but I'm sticking with it.

I'm not in the market for a brand new sled anytime soon (probably ever), but I'd like Cat to survive. I'll always choose reliability over the flashiest new thing, but Cat seems to be losing ground in that category too with the CTEC2 and clutch failures.

Yeah I was referring to the patent North just posted. I see no reason that design wouldn’t work with a two cylinder. Incorporating a turbo with the rear exit exhaust would probably get complicated if they do go that route.

yeah I don't get the rear exhaust, I just want the motor in the middle

It's less of an issue with polaris because they make super lightweight motors made out of beer cans but of the two heavier sleds, only skidoo did what needed to be done. Cats steer left like a 2008 dragon. It still cracks me up everytime we get a multifoot dump. Those days where you're just pinned to the bar to go up a mellow road it's so deep, I have to stand on my right leg more. It's dumb. (and don't tell me it's a suspension thing, I've tried it all)

I hope you're right. Ice age fixed one of the problems. No one has figured out the dumb spindle angle though. But centered mass would be huge.
