2022?

I parting ways. Life is too short to sit around and wait. The alpha is a good machine but it could be so much better. Look at Yamaha. I don't think there is hardly one question about the blue packaged arctic cat. Pretty sad. Covid is not an excuse, it's a copout

hard to compete with that polaris rollout. wow. dont think id touch one until its third year myself tho.
side note, its funny how big a deal they made of the new coolers, allowing tunnel to shed snow. i thought that was a cat bs line all these years according to the poo elites. not the only new cat item i saw on their new sled either.

I agree. Cat came out with that cooler setup in 2012 on the HCR. Best thing they did with the ProClimb chassis. Took Polaris 10 years to catch on. I love all the Polaris changes, but it will be interesting to see how the reliability is.

The new Matryx is funky looking but likely will grow on you. The different model names are a mouth full and weird - good luck parts departments. Some of the changes are very cool. But none of that matters if the heart doesn't beat; reliability is a huge concern. Polaris and their diehards know it as it's a full on sales pitch trying to get people to pony up $20K. Not a $20K I'm willing to risk, especially on a Polaris first year model. But I'm sure a ton will be sold.

Overall new sled prices are getting out of hand. As expensive as high end side-by-sides with half the design, material and moving parts in them.....flat crazy!!!!

Doubt AC will do a lot other then small improvements. If so, they need to keep the 22s MSRP low and compete for sales that way - snowcheck pricing in the high 12s, low 13s.

i agree, 20k on the promise it will work. At least Ski-Doo had 500 of them built, ready to demo and able to buy one before they announced it. And it was in mid winter, makes me think the Polaris turbo will get tested by those with the money to put down this spring and wait for next winter to see how well they run.

burandt said hes been riding it for 2 seasons already, im sure a lot of they're riders have been. not that its the same as the public riding them numbers wise but we all know he tests the **** out of his sleds

nice looking sled roll-out....good innovations, hitting the mountain sleds with practical improvements that aren't technological death traps, with that said, i'd be afeared of the turbo, and i'm fearless....this was the first year i didn't buy a new cat, ongoing concern about their viability, timely parts availability, good dealer proximity, a new buyer/owner that doesn't seem to appreciate what snowmobiling entails....couple more days to see what cat may do to raise interest, but my stated concerns still are controlling my buy for next year....non-turbo matryx maybe....

I really enjoy my 18 early release sled and am on the fence about letting it go to upgrade. I have put a considerable amount of $$$ into it upgrading and addressing items. Some of the items include, TKI belt drive, Protect-Air, 911 Response Clutch Cover, new boards, rail bracing, can, tether, bars, and bumpers. Still on the fence about purchasing the Elevate kit.

I would love to buy another Cat, but I don't want to sink a lot of money into upgrading a barnd new sled to the point where it would be comparable to what the competitors are offering stock and out the door.

It will all depend on what gets unveiled on the 3rd and the MSRP. If their offerings are not within reason, seriously considering selling my sled and purchasing a Lynx or Pro RMK.

Ihave been in the same boat or thought process. Similar upgrades on my 18 MC.
I decided to install the elevate last week, in theory to help make it the deciding factor. I got the new sled in the ‘18. Such a positive difference and noticeable in all riding situations. Stable but more nimble. Holds a hill better. Front lift is more aggressive. I’ll wait another year now.

I feel like it will be rough year for Cat if they don't have an 850-950 2T or boost?

Maybe they will come out with a snowbike? 2 skis are silly anyways!
A snowbike would be cool. I know they have a patent floating around for a CVT bike. I would love to see one in the 10k price range, be nice to have an affordable alternative to the 18k sleds that the other manufacturers now produce.

Cat will be on the bottom for a few years I bet. They have such a good sled going for them with the alpha one suspension. If they come out with "factory mods" and fix all the little things and maybe a turbo or 900 engine in the next few years they can come back to having the brands more even.

the turbo's are cool and all but im not in the market for a 22,000 sled. cats arent perfect but ive ridden 850 doo's and axys and no way in hell i would switch brands. doo cant climb, ridden two different ones not in the same ballpark as a mtn cat or alpha. axys are fine but and some good improvements on the new ones but i dont like handling. Last i checked a cat never needed a bulkhead brace or a belt temp monitor (skidoo) or a ten different companies making a fix Kit for there motor (polaris) and what happened to the light weight sled battles. now no one cares about weight and wants turbos? For me a few upgradeds to the alpha and a low price would get me to snowcheck for the first time.

I'm pulling for Cat. Anyone remember Cat's answer to the displacement wars in years gone by? Long live the M7! Hoping Cat can do it again.

Wonder if the “push button start “ that is mentioned on the one slide is like a shot system or simply not having to turn the key to start?

After 12 years, I’m excited to see what Cat has to show us. I’ve had great luck with my M8. Much better then my previous RMK 800 and RT 1000. Both of those had to be towed out at one point. Nock on wood, all my others have been Cat. I’ll stick with them. At least for one more model.

And last Sunday we had to tow a turbo Polaris out. Broken crank, imagine that.

My ‘20 is already push button start. Cat is known to keep advertising new features for a few years after they’re available
