2018/19 Snowy Range Snow Conditions

forecast

Forecast for this storm is all over the place. 1 source is showing that South Dakota could get 3-4'. That same source shows 3' for Cheyenne and 2' for the mountains. Other sources show closer to 12" for the range
Heading out Thursday so im hoping its closer to the 2-3' range

9.2" according to NOAA. Possibly rain according to the radio. Just depends on where you look for a forecast.

Spent the day around Sand lake, North and West. Fun day but tricky with 1' fresh on top of concrete. Ton of base left.

legal sled season

Even if there is lots of snow cover, isn't there a cutoff date that does not allow sledding beyond that point? I remember a buddy telling me that he went sledding in May a few years ago, after a late season blizzard. All the trail markers had been removed.

I beleive the sled sticker is good thru June 30th.

All trail markers and queally hut were removed last month. This was north of 130. Assume the same is true south of 130.

Days are longer so no need to get up there early unless there is a lot of fresh snow the night before.

Here we go......from the National Weather Service a minute ago:

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 10 to 20
inches with locally higher amounts in excess of two feet
possible at mountain top level.

* WHERE...Snowy and Sierra Madre Ranges and higher terrain of
southeastern Wyoming.

* WHEN...From Monday afternoon through Tuesday evening.

So, nobody has been up to the mountain since May? Just wondering what the snow conditions are. Usually, local people are posting by now. Maybe I'm not reading the new forum correctly.

medicine bow snotel is showing they have 27inches with 2 received last night. need to be twice that to cover all the landmines. needs some big dumps. im ready .

Snow was thin, good to get a little trail riding in to check/test a couple things I worked on over the summer. Off trail was land mine city! Still needs a few good dumps before it will be good, calling for 12-24" tonight, do your snow dance!
